The honorable mayor has made good on his promise to slow em down on the bypass. He is mad because the People didnt give him an amen on the redlight cameras. I have a business on west AJ and get to wacth it all day long. Its the biggest speed trap in TN, I talked to one cop who said he had written over 200 in a couple of weeks. There should be a surplus in the general fund soon.
The court cost alone is $100 plus the citation amount. The thing is almost no one goes to court and still you must pay $100 in court costs alone.
Bottom line, you had better not speed on west AJ because they work it 24-7 with 2 or 3 units working at the same time. If you get past one there is another just down the road. I watch them all day long'

Ummmm. The speed LIMIT(LIMIT!,means maximum...yea it does)is 45.It is posted, ummmmm for you slow people it is on SIGNS!!!!You are FOREWARNED by the SIGN!!!Heres your SIGN!!!If you go over 45 mph,yes follow me,listen closely, you are over the LIMIT!Limit means MAXIMUM!Is that clear?Have we graduated kindergarden yet?Do some of us need to go and take kindergarden again???Slow 'em down, huh??Okee dokee...with as much traffic as there is on that damn road drivers need to go no more than the speed LIMIT(yes limit means maximum)to protect both lives and property.Get this,Einstein,it is rather complicated, for some of the learning disadvantaged:STOPPING DISTANCE DECREASES WITH THE HIGHER SPEED OF THE MOVING OBJECT!!In other words for the MR's amongst us,the faster you go the longer it takes to stop.A DISASTER in heavy traffic, like on the bypass.Yea doofuss, really, really. Now,Eins tein, maybe, just maybe, some of us that rode the short bus can understand simple logic...BUT,in Greene County?Greeneville...I doubt it.

How many deaths from wrecks on the 11E? 45 really?? If you people can't drive faster than 45 and not wreck you don't need to be driving.

The cost of a speeding ticket is ridiculous. I got one about a month ago, and it was $222. The actual penalty for speeding was $50 and the court cost was $172. Why do they have to make the things so expensive? I was speeding, but $222? I think it is ridiculous.

The idea that the outskirts of Greeneville are watched for speeders day and night is maddening. People may be speeding, but the deadly accidents are happening on our community streets, not 11E. It's about revenue, not community safety.

The speed limit on Jones Bridge Road is 35 and after plenty of calls, I have never been able to get anyone to sit on my street and give anyone a ticket. In fact, I found out that the Deputy I was told would contact me (who was never in when I called) didn't actually exist. I guess the joke is on me when local law enforcement doesn't feel like doing their job. Two homes on Jones Bridge have literally been hit by a speeding car. Nobody goes less than 55 on my residential street including law enforcement.

Sitting on 11E ticketing people is a lot easier than patrolling local streets where they might be confronted by the situation of ticketing someone they know personally. It's a tactic in small towns all over TN.

Two different departments here...the one that's being lambasted for writing tickets on 11E is the Town of Greeneville. The Jones Bridge Road is in the county and would be "patrolled" by the Greene County Sheriff's Department.

Slow down and do the speed limit. Is it really that hard to do? When there is a business heavy area with people pulling out into traffic it should not be a free for all. It's simple, do what the law says, or pay what they tell you to pay, or do neither and see where that gets you. It sucks yea, I've gotten speeding tickets before, but I was stupid and disregarded the signs. Now most I do is 5 over.

I wouldn't even risk 5 over the limit. I know someone who got a ticket for doing 34 in a 30 on Bohannon Ave.

I'm not from greeneville. I was just visiting and boy did they give me a welcome. I thought I was just driving with the traffic. On top of the ticket I couldn't find my insurance card quick enough so I had to go to court. I told him I found my card and he said I was too late. Then the other day my wife was visiting and guess what she got a ticket. We decided on our next vacation we will just take the interstate around greeneville. On top of it all the cop had an attitude. We feel sorry for you people that have to put up with that. Also I can see why a lot of business investors say stay out of greeneville.

Try riding a bicycle on West Bernard ave. Some people uses West Bernard as a drag strip and I hardly ever see the law enforcement unless they going some where in a hurry, and even then its rare for them to even be thru here...

Most of the wrecks on the bypass are rear end collisions caused by all the stop and go traffic from all the stoplights ! I hate sitting at green lights waiting on all the backed up traffic to move. Speed can and does killl but my goodness gpd - ease up on all the tickets ! How about trying to catch a their or drug dealer ? Oh - because they are probably not on the bypass doing 47 in a 45 zone !
