Bachman Bernard...Buyer Beware!!!!

I know a lady who said she got a repo on her credit a few years ago solely from trading with Bachman. She told me that Bachman did not pay off her trade-in car. Unfortunately she was not as vigilant as she should have been and her finance company repossessed the car. I believed what the woman told me (she wasnít known to lie) but I couldnít see how that happened because Bachman sold the car she traded in. I told a friend that sells cars out of state about it to get his opinion. What he told me shocked me. It seems that dealerships can let a car be repossessed and then make a bid on the car to the finance company without the car ever leaving their lot. Also, what shocked me even more is this happens more often than people think with dealerships everywhere! If you donít make sure your car is paid off when traded, itís your problem to deal with because you are the one that is responsible for the loan on the trade-in car. According to what my friend told me, you only have a short time frame to deal with this kind of fiasco. If you donít, then you get ruined credit and still owe a boat load on a car that you thought you traded in and was paid off in your trade. All while the dealership cashes in by purchasing the car for practically nothing! BUYERS SHOULD BEWARE OF THIS WITH ALL DEALERSHIPS! Also, I will not ever deal with Bachman because of this personís experience with them. Last I heard, she had an attorney involved and Bachman was still refusing to make this right with her. I donít know if she ever was able to do anything about it. I know mistakes happen but if this was a legitimate mistake and Bachman were on the up and up, they wouldíve made this right when it was brought to their attention. The woman shouldíve never had to go as far as get an attorney in the matter.

Went there once to look at a used Chevy Blazer. They had one we liked but it had over 150,000 miles on it and not been treated very well. They asked $16,000 for a 4 year old that sold new for $21,000. Blue book on the Blazer we looked at was around $10,500 due to condition and miles. They assumed we were stupid. Screw 'em.
Bruiser, it's great that you'll take one on the chin for Greene County..........I believe they would call you a "Mark".

Only dishonest people want something for nothing. Like, a write off for a job they should have paid for; like a great price on a trade in "without paying it off", like taking a sales person's trip when they earned it and the list goes on and on. I am really glad someone started this forum. It really is past time that this car dealership was exposed. Who knows, maybe it will help them clean up their act. After reading all the above, I am thankful we didn't make the mistake our neighbor did.

Several years ago I was shopping for a truck. I wanted certain features, and certain manufacturers were not options. I made this plain to the sales staff at every lot I shopped...4 wheel drive, 6 cylinder, not (these) colors, and NOT (these manufacturers). I also gave them free reign to inspect, test drive, whatever they wanted to the truck I was trading in. I then gave them my payment restrictions and limits and told them, May the best man win.

About a week later, Bachman called with what I wanted. I test drove it, liked it, the payments were right...so I bought it. Two days later the check engine light came on. I took it back and asked that it be fixed. It was, for about 12 hours. So I went back the following day and told them I wanted both the light and the problem causing the light to engage fixed. This was on a Wednesday, and I had need to take my truck several hundred miles away the following weekend.

Come Friday night, the truck wasn't fixed. They offered me any vehicle on the lot to use until mine was ready. I chose...the very truck I traded in. That surprised them, but I knew it would make the trip, and it did.

Got my trade-in back the next Monday. It stayed fixed for four whole days. The engine light has been on ever since. Still own the truck, over 10 years now.

I could get upset because the light was never fixed. But I didn't. I instead chose to look at the experience as a learning opportunity. I learned a lot.

1. Bachman Bernard is as good or as lousy as the individual you are dealing with at the time, like any other lot.
2. They expect everyone's trade-in to be junk, so don't whine when you get lowballed on tradein value.
3. Slow sales days trigger call backs. If you don't want call backs, give 'em the number to Waffle House, or Dial-A-Prayer, or your ex sister-in-law instead of your real number.
4. Vacuum lines aren't always necessary for a smooth running truck. I know this because I took the line off myself before reporting the engine light just to see if they thoroughly check problems. They don't.

Would I buy from them again? Maybe on a used car. Never on a new car. They don't have the proper brand. But I will say this one thing in their favor. Sure, they made claims, but theirs were met 90%(engine light notwithstanding). Best I found at other lots has been 50%. If you can actually get the salesman to STFU and listen for three minutes, Bachman's people are pretty good at trying to find what the customer wants if the request is reasonable...no 2009 Benzes for $1500 and such. That fact alone lets me know they'll try to work with you. Lottsa places where even that can't be said (*coughGrindstaffcough*)

FTR, my last vehicle purchase was near Knoxville. Stole that one cuz they couldn't get a buyer with the cash to work the deal they wanted, so it sat for a few months. On my second trip, I simply asked if they were ready to move it.$16500 ride for $9850, no trade in involved, nothing out of my pocket, just sign and drive. I loves teh internets.

This is an awesome post. That would actually be "You're a dumbass". The word "You're" is a contraction for the words "You are". Funny you make fun of someone else, when you can't even spell.

Don't buy or not buy from Bachman because of me. I have nothing to do with them, good or bad. I'm just on here to stir people up.

They, also, at one time replaced some local folks with out of town salesmen. That is when my family stopped doing business with them.

They took our $7000 deposit and either lost our income documents or FORGOT to finance the car. They refuse to give us our deposit back and keep asking for documents that we have given them for a second time now. They came and stole the car out of our garage instead of asking us to come in and deal with their mistake.

Now they have the car and the deposit and won't give either back to us. They also refuse to finance the car.
(financing isn't a problem for us, we make $235,000 last year and own 4 companies) Not sure what their deal is down there but someone screwed up and now they won't help us.
