I don't think the answer to all our problems are government nor do I think that any one party has the corner on great ideas. I believe in making America great through opportunities where every single American can achieve his/her American Dream. The truth is we have a government and that government needs taxes to run. More than not those taxes are funneled into special interests groups or the pockets of large corporations or surreptitiously given to politicians to pad their pockets. The American people deserve better and they deserve every opportunity to get out of those minimum wage jobs and move into higher paying jobs. I support a raise in the minimum wage but not such an increase that would put a hardship on present jobs or the creation of new ones. I think an incremental increase over a period of time will allow the market to absorb this increase without putting undue burdens on the businesses and their employees. I want to increase small businesses and entice and encourage other businesses to settle in East Tn. I want real jobs with good pay for the citizens of East TN. I don't ever want to be so close minded that I couldn't listen to every side and make an educated decision, I believe that is what has been the problem in our government for too long. I want to work with every single party and listen to everyone who has a stake in this government and when it is all said and done, I want to make a stand based on the information and what is best for everyone in district one, not just the Republicans or Democrats or Libertarians or tea party, etc. As a congressman you are charged with representing the people, all the people, even those who didn't vote for you or who don't like you or your politics. I believe I can do that and that is why I want to hear from every citizen in this district who will voice their opinion. I don't think I can do the best job I can without listening to the people who elect me to represent them. I want to have a town meeting in your area and I will certainly let you know when I come to town, I look forward to hearing from everyone who has a voice. If you will sign up on the web site you can receive up dates or if you want to keep checking back on the site, we will be listing the times and places of our up coming town hall meetings. Let me finish this response by saying this: I know that I will never agree with everyone and everyone will never agree with me and that's OK. We are a Nation of many cultures and faiths and beliefs and that is, in my opinion what makes us the greatest Nation on this planet. It also makes our system the best in the world too because it gives regular people like myself the chance to step into the political ring and it let's ordinary citizens vote for or against people like me. In the end we don't always get what we wanted but we certainly get a chance to be part of it.

you are right. all is economy fixes are based on the government doing this and that. these idiots kill me always looking to the government. the government doesn't create jobs or produce revenue or add to the gdp!
here is his solution which I copied from his website:
We need a real boost to our economy if we are to get our unemployment rate down to 5.5% or below, where it was in 2008. Right now, our local unemployment rate is around 7.5%. We need to create attractive incentives for new businesses and for growth of existing businesses, which includes a focus on infrastructure such as road and bridge construction and repair and a plan for the expansion of our regional airport in Sevier County to accommodate regional aircraft from national airlines as this would increase tourism.

I am running for Congress because like many, I still believe in America. I still believe in what we can achieve as a nation, and more importantly, I believe Iím not alone.

A government of the people, by the people and for the people is the principle that forms the very foundation of this great nation and we need representatives in Washington who havenít forgotten this. I havenít forgotten and this is what defines me as a candidate -- one who cares, and who will work hard to return the government to you -- the People.

In my service, Iíll look to the people for guidance, for ideas, and for solutions that makes sense not just at the national level, but here locally in our communities. And Iíll take the guidance, ideas, and solutions and use these to do what needs to be done, what is right, and what is best for you, not any special interest group or party-line agenda.

No one party has a monopoly on good ideas or solutions. If a politician believes this, they are serving the party and not the people, and for this, they should be voted out.

Congress has an approval rating that averages less than 10%, and most recently, it was at a near record low of 8%. Currently, a staggering 85% of Americans believe the Country is heading in the wrong direction -- up from 65% in 2012. This is unacceptable.

The time has come for politicians to abandon their divisive stances and adopt one of cooperation and compromise before itís too late. Some may refer to me as the anti-politician, but Iím just a common man, with common sense who wants to be your voice Ė the voice of the People. Support me and we can take a much needed step in returning the government to its rightful owners, You.

I am a candidate for the United State Congress in district one of TN and I am interested in holding a town hall meeting with a meet and greet as well as listening to the public in Greenville. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested in hosting an evening or day Town Hall meeting, please contact me. I am very eager to listen to the concerns of voters in Greenville. Thank you,

Running against Phil Roe, one of the very few that we have in office that's worth a damn. He was vilified on here for standing against ObamaCare and warning of the consequences and now we see it falling apart and Roe proven to be 100% correct on the fact that ObamaCare is a wreck. He also stands for smaller government. 99.9% of our problems in this country are created by government. Obviously, if Hartley is running against Roe, he sees issue with his stance. Good to know this moron doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell winning the election.

Dan is a total joke. He has no chance, so don't even give him the time to listen to his position. He is another big government politician.
Drew: What is it that makes me a joke?
