Are you idiots listening? The public doesn't want them for a combination of reasons. So stop
with the eco agenda that will be a waste of money!

the american people don't want very small, very costly "green" cars. oh sure the elites want to force them on us, but MOST people won't of their own accord buy them. trying to force them on an unwilling public could become very unpopular for obama and the democrats.

People don't want these cars. The government should not be telling the auto industry what they should or should not build. I need a low cost vehicle that can transport my family safely, not a light weight mini green car. Obama will ruin what is left of the US auto industry.

So, President Obama is ordering that cars be made greener and a lot more costly to the people who buy and drive cars. This is being implemented to reduce this "global warming" from "greenhouse gases" as the commissars of the new world order agenda call it. Gee, during Mr. Obama's inauguration party, there was an enormous number of private jet planes that made their way to Washington for the owners of these jets to witness that party. I believe that it was a record number of private jets that flew into Washington for a presidential inauguration. This must have caused a lot of air pollution. These jets are no doubt owned by very liberal Obama supporters.(Rich, arrogant folks who are concerned about greenhouse gas emission.) Why couldn't these Obama supporters have carpooled to Washington? Is it Obama's policy that rich, useless celebrities can do whatever they want while the middle class will have to modify their lifestyles? How about all of the damage that illegal alien invaders have done to the desert in the American Southwest? I've seen photos of what the desert looks like, with trampled vegetation and lots of litter strewn all over after these Mexicans have finished their trek into America. It looks almost as bad as the Washington Mall did after the Obama supporters got through with it after his inauguration.

I had a green car once. A puke-green '72 Plymouth Duster.

On the other hand, it was good on gas & almost nothing could kill that slant-6.

Obama is in bed with the eco-left. Get ready for a wild ride, possibly to ruin.
The strategy appears to be to let the most far out fringe (California) dictate standards for the nation. I'd like to see all car sales stop in CA. Let them walk until they control their lunatic fringe.

BO is just appealing to the green weenies at a huge cost. the auto industry is down due to poor sales and regulations and lets add more cost to cars. watch for a socialist near you!

Since when does the FEDERAL goverment abdicate it's job to the STATE ? It is the job of the federal EPA to set standards not some liberal or conservative state. How would you feel if Montana set the speed limit, South Carolina sets the gun control laws, and Massachusettes sets the gay marriage laws? Also at a time where the car companies themselves are at the EDGE of bankrupcy, do we really need to push them over the edge with more regulations and mandates?

You are mistaking a bureaucratic 'wave of the wand' with reality. Obama made the equivalent of a wish.

Maybe tomorrow he'll wave that magic wand again tomorrow and free us from having to use coal to generate our electricity.

This should work as well as the gov't mandate on low flow toilet bowls!!!

Flush 3 times, use more water, but the eco-left feels good!

When are the uniforms coming?

Maybe the 'Messiah Obama', the magic *&%#@ could wave his wand again and repeal the law of gravity. Cars would get much better mileage if rolling resistance was reduced by halving gravity.

LOL, but so true. Bail out for GM, w/taxpayer money, then throw them into bankruptcy by making them produce cars no one can afford. The first step to solve a problem is to identify the problem and then the cause. Real cause: Auto's became too expensive without funny financing. Funny financing was unsustainable and lending tightened. People couldn't afford to buy cars, the big three lost money. When did green cars and emission standards become the big three's demise? Oh it wasn't? but now it will be.
