union contracts need to scale back.

In light of the increasingly expensive retirement cost associated with retirements of Nashua union teachers its time to sit down with all Nashua unions and declare the contracts along with excessive retirement cost have to be scaled back renegotiated or just thrown out because they are too expensive for the tax payers at a time of fiscal recession as we are in now.
First off the taxpayers need to have a seat and a voice in the contract talks. The city school board negotiators just work to keep schools open and avoid disruptions of services. The unions just want all they can get without concern for how home owners will pay for the final cost.
No one represents the tax payers who get stuck with the retirement bill.
Hence in 2013 Nashua city tax payers will be getting retirement bills for teachers that far exceed anything workers in the private sector would be getting. This is unfair unbalanced and will cause the crash of the city economy at some point in the future.
Unions have been demanding and getting by treat of strike excessive pay and retirement benefits.
time for a period of "adjustment in pay benefits"
so that teachers are paid in line and on a level with educated people in the private sector work place.
If unions don't want to go along with an adjustment, replace them, with college educated people who will accept an compensation equal to what they would get in the private sector and adjust the retirement programs to those in the private sector.
the gravy train is coming off the tracks ain't enough money in the city or the state to keep this bloated union contract mess afloat for long.

There's talk around the state house of increasing the gas tax in NH.
Gee lawmakers how much is enough or I any amount of tax ever enough for you?
Consider that in NH we pay the federal government
9 1/2 a gallon, then the state takes 38 1/2 cents a gallon on top of that. So NH drivers pay 48 cents a gallon in taxes now.
if you need more money reduce spending in your current budget. For example you could have everyone in state government pay toll , even the governor & judges. that would raise money for ya.
You could reduce the toll road mismanagers from 7 to 1.The state had one toll road administrator for 30 years it doesn't take 7 managers plus over paid staff offices, computers, cars, overhead to mismanage just 60 miles of toll roads.
then go through the state budget which has been growing unchecks for 40 years and cut back 10% of all staff overheads that have been added over the years.
NH doesn't need new taxes we really need better management of the size and cost of government.
Find the waste in the budget make cuts then you have money to waste on new spending.'
Or you could be like NYC NY they already tax everything and now propose a lap dancing tax.
I would go along with that provided the lap dancers don't look like our governor or some of our female law makers serving in Concord.
