Thinking of relocating

Jasper, TN

#1 Aug 7, 2012
Thinking of buying a house and moving family to Lawrenceburg. Is it a good place to live? Have 3 kids 6, 4, and infant. Attached to the closeness to Cincinnati, while still having a small town "Safer?" feel.

I'm a photographer of 11 years, and also worked in the IT field for over 20 years. Moving would require locating new employment.

I would really like to get a feel for the community etc.

One of the things I liked about the town was all the new Parks and a seemingly good school system.

Well, let me hear the good and bad....

My fiance and I moved here in March. It's a change for us coming from a mid-sized city (Greensboro, NC) to a VERY small town but so far so good! Having Cincinnati nearby is a plus, along with Florence, KY. We actually prefer heading into Florence for shopping rather than tackling Cincinnati (crazy highways and one wrong turn and you're in a part of town you wish you weren't). No children but from everything we hear and see the school system is awesome. My fiancee is an IT professional and we came here specifically for a job he couldn't refuse with a very good company! We didn't buy but preferred to rent. We took an upscale apartment in the downtown and love it! But we have looked into the neighborhoods and real estate and there are excellent choices! Greendale, which neighbors Lawrenceburg, is very nice as well. There are a lot of downtown activities in the summer in L-burg that we have taken advantage of. Music on the River is a favorite. Different band every Thursday. Always a church festival or town festival going on. Lots of fall activities coming up that we are looking forward to. Joan Jett is playing at the ballpark that's practically in our backyard!:) We have the Hollywood Casino that's fun for an adult night out. There are GREAT parks, pools and community centers, a racetrack and a local skiing facility that we want to check out this winter...if we get snow! Last winter was extremely mild for this area I'm told. We have met some of the friendliest people since we've been here...very impressed by that actually. I thought the South was full of hospitality! The bad...very limited shopping in L-burg. There's the WalMart and Kroger for retail and grocery shopping. A Lowe's for home improvement and a couple of auto parts stores. Not a whole heck of a lot else. A few convenience stores, furniture stores, thrift shops and antique shops (overpriced, IMO). A hand full of fast food and sit down restaurants (Whiskey's is GREAT). If you are pretty mainstream in your spirituality you'll be covered here with plenty of churches to choose from. Let me know if you have any other questions I might be able to answer!
