Correct me if Im wrong, but isn't bussing contracted service?(i.e. TSD doesn't own the busses...)
Wouldn't it be up to the bus company to install this stuff?
The School can make it a requirement.

As someone who is sick of waste and the unbelievable property taxes we pay, my vote goes for Larry ****, who has watched the pennies and worked for repairing still usable facilities instead of new expensive construction. And Eric Hawbaker is the new blood that we need; he's a fiscal conservative. Someone on the board has to do something about the way we fund our schools.
Well Liza, I hope you speak from experience because that is from what I have spoken. Amazing to me that you believe Larry has "watched the pennies" when my experience is the only watching of pennies he is doing is watching and helping throw them out the window.

HARMON must be someone who has a problem with the Hunsbergers.Could it be a jealousy problem? Could it be either classroom or Track issue related? Maybe it is even someone whom the Hunsbergers has helped along the way. Both men are very intelligent, education oriented people who have worked very hard for TSD. People like HARMON fortuantely are the "do-nothingers" and are overlooked on a daily basis by those who know better.

We have all heard it before. they say they will do this and that and really do nothing. they all say they won't vote to up my taxes but when it comes time they go with the flow. I am tired of voting for someone and they just tell me what I want to hear. it is all BS and they will they won't go against anyone. I find it funny Darryl is on the board and now harald wants on it to. That can't be good. Two peas in a pod. You knnow they will vote the same.We diffently need new blood!!!

I agree! They will over rule the board! Vote for new blood, not blood relatives!

I thought that bus routes have to be setup in anticipation of all students riding the bus?

If someone drives a student to school, I don't think districts can assume they will be driven each and every day?

I've also heard that the cameras save a lot of time that is otherwise spent interviewing students to identify who started the fight, who threw what first, etc.? It is amazing how a student's story changes when they are presented with the video tape.

I was just looking at the crudentials of the canidates. the one that might be good is Erich. the only reason I say this is he is a banker. so if he votes to spend more then we have that is a poor poor banker. Try have him explain that one. I have said all along doesn't spend what we don't have. maybe a banker could explain that to everyone that insist on spending before you have.If you get in I will be watching.Someone needs to tell everyone no money no spend! If you get in Erich and increase my taxes let me know what bank you work at and I will drop off my taxes. i will soon need a loan to pay them.

Isn't it strange that nowhere in the Public Opinion, Mercersburg Journal or even the recent news letter sent to Tuscarora residents does it mention anything about services being contracted with Metz Associates, Inc. for Food Services. They managed to take all the cafeteria employees off the school district payroll and benefit program. Now they are trying to decide how to deal with the unused sick and personal leave that the former employees accumulated. All this is being done behind closed doors. I do not attend board meetings but have been told by others that none of this has ever been discussed out in the open. I do not trust the Business Manger to come up with a fair and reasonable offer. It seems like we are a group without any representation. So, tell me who do I vote for?

The top pick for tomorrow's election should be Hunsberger. He certainy has the experience of serving the District as a teacher/coach a well as beng on the outside looking in. Certainly, he has dealt with the District on a personal level and sees where there is lots of room for policy changes. In regards to his son being on the board, I feel that they will each hold a valuable seat, with different approaches to this District's messes. This District did not get into this "MESS" in a few years, nor will it be out of it in a few years. Let's just put the best man in and give someone with "real" educational experiences a chance.

Seems like the same old, same old...candidate-wise. I cant see any difference between any of these "Conservative Republicans". Seems more like a personality contest.

And, wasn't it penny pinching "conservative republicans" that got us into this mess? I cant see where any of these guys represents a departure from the past.

Why does everybody think a banker would make a good board member? Were former members unable to do basic addition? Pretty sure the problems at TSD were not a result of bad math.

With so much money about to be spent on construction - I'd be wary of anyone associated with that industry.

Does anybody running know anything about education?

It's just math...basic addition.

We need someone with ideas. Not beancounters.

We have an accountant for that.

Anybody who heard Hawbaker speak at the Chambersburg Tea Party on the 4th of July should know he's the sort of man we need on that board. And like he said, he graduated from that high school less than 10 years ago. He has seen it firsthand. He and Hunsburger know better than anyone what needs to be done there.

If you'd read the article above, you'd see that he has a Master's Degree and a respectable career. That makes him a lot smarter than you.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Virgo

If the December sales are calling you, you'd better work out a budget before you leave the house. Otherwise, you'll be tempted to use your credit card first and only consider the cost of your purchase later on. Even so, you could track down some great bargains now, provided you don't get carried away and buy items that you don't really want simply because you're astonished by the amount of money you'll save in buying them. But you'll save even more money if you don't buy them!
