“Illegals are not immigrants...”

This is just another story highlighting arrogance, greed and lack of personal responsiblity...that of illegals' and of those who knowingly employ them. I have no sympathy for any of them.

$$$ signs got in the way of common sense and doing what is legally within the parameters of the law...the town will lose some businesses that catered to the illegal crowd...oh, well.

Huffine said his tenants showed him work identification and paycheck stubs issued by Electrolux.
>>Electrolux id is enough to break the law?

The staffing company is Randstad.
>>I would love to see all temp companies put out of business, they do nothing but make money off the backs of legal and NOW illegal workers.

As many as 800 workers lost or walked away from Electrolux jobs/
>>Whoohoo! 800 job openings!! Go get em citizens!!

"I was starting to have a lot of clients and they're gone," Quijada said. "... I've been a resident since 1985, and I've never seen anything as big as this personally."
>>A resident? Legal or illegal?
Did you miss the last amnesty this country will ever have in 1985?
You promoted your business to a very small minority, too bad for you.

"I think we are going to stay, to try to see what comes," said Nacio. "In a few days, maybe a week, I'll go back to work. We, my mother, none of us can live without my pay."
>>Read: "I expect the U.S. government to give me amnesty" or "I am part of the new invading army".
Where you going back to work,Mr. Illegal?
Who are you sending money home to?
Your mother is here.

many people are forgeting that america is suppose to be for americans.

we pay the taxes. we should be benefiting from the money...not some illegal who is not suppose to be here.

if people want to be usa citizens, they must follow the legal process.

if they can't do that, they have no business being here at all.

our jobs should not be exported overseas. nor should our factories be going that route too.

this is insane. and to a large degree, it must be stopped.

america first. americans first.

Another sob story - and I just can't seem to find any tears. Too bad, so sad. They made their bed, now they'll have to lie in it -- hopefully in their native countries. We don't want them here, they don't belong here, and the arrogance of "Nacio" to say he knows he's not wanted, but he's here [so we have to deal with him & let him stay?] is ridiculous. He needs to get his illegal behind back to Mexico.

They said the same thing here about the SWIFT raid , the only thing that closed here was 6 mom and pop Mexican markets. Now there 2 left one the La Amistad blew up and burt down his own building and then tried to collect insurance on it. By the way he nearly burnt down the historical building where KOOL AID was invented ......Just another day in Mexica gangster paridise...

"....they say we broke the law..." Duh! You DID break the law. You could go to Mexico City or Monterrey and refinish bathrooms. He says he has a two year old child who's an American Citizen and can't leave. Translation: The child is getting social service benefits that the family uses, while he works for cash. The culture change won't affect the two year old one teeny tiny little bit. As for the businesses, they catered to an illegal clientele, thus, promoting lawbreaking. They don't need to be in business.

"and a crumpled spelling test. A grade-schooler named Alana scored a 93."

"Nearly a month later, Norma Linda, four months pregnant, and her husband ration food so they don't have to visit the store too often."

"County Mayor Howard Bradley said the change is noticeable. He blames faulty immigration policy for allowing the community to build its economy, at least in part, with illegal labor only to have it yanked away."

"Nacio, 33, who also did not give his last name, said he came to the United States nine years ago from Pueblo, Mexico, to work and send money to his mother. Now he has a family including a 2-year-old who is an American citizen and can't just leave.

"I know a lot of people don't like it that we are here, they don't like the change," he said. "They say we broke the law. But I reached a point in my country where my family, we did not have enough to eat."

Am I supposed to be crying?

My brain says "Laugh" at their plight.
My heart says "Roll on the floor laughing my ass off" at their plight.
They asked for this to happen. It's the price of doing business. They have not paid their debt for 20 years, but now, "The Tax Man Commeth"
We WILL get our pound of flesh from these bottom feeders.
Not quickly, but slowly, oh so slowly, and I'll enjoy every last minute of it.

The owner of La Amistad had hundreds of gallons of liquid fertilizer stored in the building, the same fertilizer used in making meth. You can call the local chief of police he would probably talk about and maybe the paper ,the media here are not that indepth in reporting and GI is a santurary city very pro illegal . The owner of LaAmistad is a legal Argentinan who uses his wife citizenship to get liquor lic. and has ties with Aztlan groups , very blatten with signage.

"I don't think people ought to be here illegally, but these raids, sweeping up people in the dead of night, it just doesn't seem right or productive," he said, motioning to the tangled mess at the edge of the road. "I know a lot of people think we need to get all the illegals out of here, but you've got to look at stuff like this. Look at what those raids have done to this entire town."

I think this person needs to relax. The upheavel of ICE raids and the fleeing of illegals from jobs and apartments is kindred to the effect of a natural disaster, ie the community will adjust and rebuild, hopefully with the abundance of Americans and legal immigrants we have. This has been true for every single ICE raid across this nation, ie an initial upset then the dust settles and Americans and legal immigrants seek out the jobs they've been denied access to for years and in many cases, decades. Oh and if the name "Norma Linda" for a Hispanic didn't send red flags to the employer who hired and the landlord who rented, get a fcking clue. Hispanics don't name their children "Norma Linda".

I knew kids in an apartment complex that had to move out because illegals were being booted out of the complex. Trust me, if their willing to steal your jobs, commit crimes, and god know what else, they'll burn everything down to the ground.

And would u think it was a sob story if that 2 year old was ur relation? think before u speak. I like they way you generalize everything. Let me tell you what I think of Americans. Lets not work when we can get food stamps. Or better yet lets work a couple of months for income tax. Or lets go for SSI when you don't need it. Get real Get a Job and Get a Life and Welcome to United Latino States OF Latino AMERICA ;) HAVE A NICE DAY

These people were paying taxes you morons. They worked for a major company who witheld taxes from their checks like every other employer.

THey were here illegally and you may believe that is a serious problem but they were paying taxes just like you and me.

Regarding compassion - I am ashamed at the racist talk regarding illegal immigration. I agree it is a violation of the law for them to be here but the fact that many of them have been here for several years with no repercussions begs the question. Your ancestors came here from other countries - they did not fill out any special paperwork - they just came here and we let them in no questions.
