Does anyone else feel like TN is becoming one of the most file, christian defaming places on the entire face of the earth ?

I hope we can take down all of the leaches on public funding who are members of racist groups........

Well, not Christian defaming. Racism has always been present in this area (um, we are in the SOUTH) and sometimes it is extreme even today. I don't agree with it. I don't believe in it. I even tolerate all religions unlike so many others here. One person can only do so much so I have raised my daughters to be tolerant of many things including religion and race.

A.) I was born and raised here and Raised to respect ALL religions, Races, sexual orientations etc..

I'm thankful that I was raised in such a loving family.

YES, YES, YES, Tennessee is FULL of racism. It's is in part, because so many people have kept their parents, or Grandparents beliefs.

Most of those are outdated and even HATEFUL.
Of course years ago, they weren't considered hateful.

All I'm saying. Progression happens.
Being Southern is no excuse for hatred.

Proud to be Southern and I Love everybody!

I used to live in Robertson County and attended school in Greenbrier, I remember the 2 black students that attended the same time I did. One was run off by stupid people and the other swore she was indian. I visit Greenbrier some and it seems like times have changed, at least I hope so.

Things have changed a little. I have only lived here for about 8 years so I have very little to go on but, for my short time here, it has improved marginally. We've got a long way to go before I can honestly say that it's not a racist town.

Cosby racist? We're getting ready to move there in a few months.

I have no tolerance for racists. They always get the cow looking at the open barn door look when they spew their filth.

I've not heard of Cosby yet, not sure where it is. You have to bear in mind, though, that you will be moving to a state that is considered Southern. There will be at least some form of racism.
Have a safe move and remember: people are only people; they do as they were raised to do. Only some can rise above what they were taught to change things.

I have heard that Greenbrier has more KKK members than any other part of this state. I don't know how true this is but i have my sources that are pretty accurate. I don't live in the area but know people who have lived around the area in the past 5 years.

Considering Pulaski was the birthplace of the KKK, I doubt Greenbrier is the worst in this state.
It does have a reputatioin however things are not as bad now as they were 20 years ago or even 10.

Racism is a part of life. I'm not going to say that EVERYBODY is racist because that wouldn't be true. The truth is that there are people out there who can't stand the thought of there being different people from themselves. Personally I am racist against a-holes. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, nationalities and beliefs. You can polish a turd and it's STILL a turd. You can try to blend the a-holes in but they are still a-holes.

I am thinking about building a home in this area, but I am very afraid-I am a black mother of two young boys ages 5&9-, my most concern is the schools? How are the schools-my childern have always gone to a diverse school-but I really am worried about if they will be treated fair and equal. Anyone please give me some information. Thank you,

Listen people.
I've lived in Middle TN for most of my life. I happen to live in Greenbrier now, for the past four years. Yes, there is a strong presence of the Mason's club (Which is known to have ties to the KKK back in the day) and most of the old white men that attend the meetings are probably a tad prejudiced.
But my mom, who is 63, was raised in this city, and she has eluded to prejudices and racism floating around when she was growing up, but never anything overly hateful. I have never witnessed any racist slurs or the like since I've lived here.
The sad truth is that Greenbrier has received a very bad reputation as not welcoming to those of color. It's a country hick farm town like any other in the south, and there are bound to be a group of people that still fly the confederate flag like we're still in the civil war... but most of it has to do with heritage and very little with racism.

If you're looking to move to TN, I would tell you it's a great place to live, one of the most friendly cities I've ever visited is that of Nashville.
And yes, there are plenty of minorities living peaceably in this area. African American, Muslim, and Hispanic populations are very abundant. There is absolutely no reason to be scared of moving here.

Bottom line: You can't judge a region, or state for that matter, on what a few idiotic people might think or practice.
