Ontario airport's Mickey Mouse idea just might work

L.A./Ontario International Airport is planning to use its proximity to Disneyland to attract new tourist traffic.

"I think this ambitious plan could go even further. Why not paint Disney characters on the sides of the planes? I mean, Alaska Airlines has a giant mug shot of an Eskimo. The planes offering Disneyland flights into Ontario could sport giant mug shots of Buzz Lightyear, Tinker Bell and Dumbo."

Alaska Airlines already has several airplanes painted with a Disney theme.

A pipe dream that will never come true. Foolish marketing. How do these people have a job? The only way Ontario is going to pick up an extensive amount of traffic it to make it less expensive. It should not cost more to fly out of a lessor known market than LAX or John Wayne, but it does. Until that changes, ONT will never draw the envisioned 10-15 million plus they have been plugging for years. Someone at LAWA needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Ontario would get more action if it weren't so much more expensive to fly there. It is currently cheaper to fly in an out of Los Angeles, or Santa Ana, so much cheaper that it outweighs the cost to drive.

With all the local strip clubs, airlines could also offer adult themed flights where the stewardesses treat passengers to complimentary lap dances and VIP room massages. They could show porn movies for in-flight entertainment. The possibilities are endless.
