In my opinion, Green Cove Springs, Florida, has a red light camera trap for drivers at ORANGE Avenue and SR or US 17. As a driver NEARS the intersection, the light changes from yellow to red in less than 3 seconds. If a driver is doing anywhere near the speed limit of 35 mph, a driver would have to put passengers through the windshield to stop before the intersection, in a blink of an eye. I never saw a light change so fast from yellow to red, then the cameras start flashing on the vehicle license plate. When the ticket is issued by mail, drivers are not permitted to speak to ANYONE in Green Cove Springs and must talk to a person in OHIO, who claims knowing NOTHING about the traffic light, claiming drivers must pay the ticket in full (no installments) and drivers can't talk to anyone to discuss ANYTHING. BOYCOTT Green Cove Springs!

I too was ticketed on that scam. I recommend others to write to the state attorney general, Pam Bondi and express their complaints about this scam. I have already suspended a truck purchase I was looking at there and have decided to get all my farm supplies in jacksonville. I don't even stop there for a Coke anymore.

Palatka has installed red light cameras. Watch for the city of St. Augustine to follow in their footsteps. It's about money not safety.

Not sure how punishing the business owners helps with the red light cameras. Most don't live in the city and can't vote there. thanks
