and who go you imagine was holding the mother's sentencing?
That is simply not true. The moronic lying nazi prosecution plays dirty. They overcharge to get a plea deal. It is the oldest trick.

Florida has been fighting lwop for teens. It is case by case. Lots of appeals and time in jail. The judge refused to drop the defense motion to rule out lwop. I understand why the defense went for the lesser of two evils. The boy is innocent but the charges were so inflated and with little option if it went bad on trial that they could not take the risk.

Angela Corey has blood on her hands by putting an innocent boy in jail for 7 years. She did it to Marissa Alexander who refused to accept the 3 year plea deal went to trial and the judge had no option but to give her 20 years.

Corey is awful. I hope she goes to jail soon.

LOL...the only blood is on the hands of the CRIMINALS!

If that "boy" was innocent, the so-called dream team would have gone to trial and proven it.

And Alexander should be suing her defense attorney or whoever talked her into refusing the deal. It was a GIFT and she blew it. Do the crime...do the time.

Yeah, what about the guy whose lawyer failed to plead the Stand Your Ground defense, resulting in unnecessary prison time? In what context did that arise - a motion alleging ineffective assistance of counsel or was it something else?

You can't blame the prosecutors for doing their job just because the defense attorneys aren't doing theirs.

This is the building the Public Defender Office is in, which Mattie said would save the taxpayers money (as opposed to remaining where they had been over on Forsyth).

Bear in mind he didn't save anyone anything. The city directed that deal, as it was necessary because the Forsyth lease was up. They did save money, but Shirk didn't do jack.

Didn't stop that clown for taking credit for it though.

Are you saying that renewing the lease on Forsyth was not an option and that the PDO had to move?

Actually from what I understand the lease had just been renewed and a clause was excersized allowing the lease to be terminated because city owned property was available. And from what I know Shirk had been working the move since he was elected but before taking office after he learned that Bill White declined the move which at the time would've saved millions of dollars. I think you need to get your facts straight before popping off.

You seem well-informed and reasonable. However, it is clear that you must be new to this forum. Perhaps a little history will help you understand the comments of a few contributors. A few detractors of the current public defender constantly "pop off" and never miss an opportunity to exhibit their lack of respect for a fine public servant. Some hitched their horses to the wrong wagon during the recent election campaign.
Be careful. If you speak the truth, these people will try to craft a threatening response and may even threaten to physcially beat you. You will be able to spot their "contributions." They apparently dropped out of English, grammar and spelling classes in the fourth grade. You will feel that you are stuck in a murky abyss while reading their attempted prose.

I saw that the newest hire at the PD is making more than several division chiefs and most of major crimes even though he only has less than three years experience
