My heart goes out to you, I cannot even imagine the pain you are going through. I will be praying for this family and will put them on the prayer chain at my church. No one ever knows the reason these things happen but I believe that Ethan is in heaven and he is helping God do something great.

My prayers go out to the Family!
I am so sorry that this has happened. There are to many people rplying in a negativity to the parents and grandmother. Dont you think that they have enough going on, other than to hear that crap from you folks. HAVE A HEART OR SHUT UP! I can can ssure you that there are things that you kids have gotten into when you werent looking, granted that it is not a severe as this. But enough of talking to you dummies. To the Family my prayers are with you and hold tight to the other kids and grandmother!

This is a sad story and my heart is with this family.

To everyone saying that he should have been more supervised, I agree to an extent. My son is 5 and there were plenty times I left him watching a movie or playing in the living room while I cleaned house or took the garbage, etc.... You just don't think about those things ALL the time, you assume that because you are in your house all is ok.

As for the mother not seeming upset, everyone has their own way of dealing with tradegy it isn't anyones right to judge that.

This is a terrible tragedy and unfortunately, it's all too easy for people who are not related or involved with the family to point fingers and place blame, and to play "Monday Morning Quarterback". Quite frankly, it could have happened to anyone, anywhere. I don't believe anyone is at fault. Accidents happen. The important thing, now, is for the community to support the family. My heart truly goes out to them and the precious little boy who they have lost. This is my family and first hand news seems to be the most reliable so,, speaking from the inside, everyone involved is deeply grieved and there have been many tears and very few moments they have not been weeping its been very painful to all involved ...so please hold judgement also there have been several things reported incorrectly. as per an earlier comment regarding the mother and her grief shes my sister and she has been devastated.if she had even a moment she was able to not show her pain its been brief. when your on the outside looking in its easy to pass judgement.

If any of the Kirkland family happens to read this....
Mr. Kirkland, my husband is one of the one students you will most likely remember from school, he goes by the name of COREY GILL! You were his best teacher... You taught him so much about school, ac and himself during the years you had him and Tony! I heard about this story through him. He couldnt figure out if that was your family or not but he said... Who else is named Lemuel! He plans on donating something to the RHS fund for you.... I just wanted you to know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers....

I agree with you but then again kids are very hard to keep track of. I babysit and I have to make bottles, clean up, make dinner, run bath water, and while I'm doing this, the babies and/or kids are walking a playing. It's no ones fault, All these ppl could have done is put the lighter away and not left it out. As for kepping an eye on a child 24/7, thats impossible...
well impossiable huh ??? well i think you need to reread the artical and what i wrote, a few times to undestand it ty.. ohh by the way i did it ..my daughter she 22 in collage and is a new mother and wont leave her baby unatended for a second.. like her father and mother did...plz read and understand the artical before you post next time amber ty....

Yeah, great! sounds like you are very proud of your daughter. I am sure well deserved. But,
I am sure that she does not sleep, shower, go
to the restroom with them either. Just like these parents did not take them to work with them. This is a terrible, but I think the thing we can
learn from this is to search our houses for items
that are dangerous in a childs hand. Things like lighters, guns and medications that can be in easy
reach of our kids.

This is Cid's mommy and daddy. First of all, thank you to those of you who have expressed your sympathy and thank you for your prayers. To the other comments - esp. to David - no one will ever know the pain and suffering that our family has endured over this tragedy. The story is incorrect and the negative comments are uncalled for. The fire occured at the grandparents home not at our home. Both of us were at work. This was a terrible tragedy and there is no fault or blame being cast. Yes, let this be a lesson to others to make sure that anything that should not be in a childs hands is up and out of reach, and don't take your eyes off of your children - but know this, even with the most attentive and watchful of parents/grandparents accidents do happen. Our prayer is that no one has to endure the pain and horror that we have gone through - but if something like this does happen to anyone out there I hope that God is with you as he has been with us through this tragic time. We will never get over the loss of our beautiful baby Cid, and we will never stop missing him. God Bless!

Everyone of us that have children and grandchildren can say ,that might have been us. Kids get into stuff fast. My heart goes out to these people , may they find some kinda peace for the trial they are going thru now. Remember when your pointing at someone, three fingers are pointing back at you.
