Rural residents spar with Avista - Wed, 20 May 2009 PST

Gayle Green and Ben Simpson, and other Otis Orchards residents, are fighting mad about a new power line that Avista is planning to string across the Spokane River to Liberty Lake at the intersection of Simpson Road and River Road.

It's a shame that the county want to be's and the developers across the river just don't care anymore .
Otis Orchards has a rich history with the early
settling of this area .
Nearby Military outposts , the Newman Lake / Otis Orchards Irrigation District , which some remnants of the original canals can still be found on some side streets here in Otis .
It's begining to look like Bangkok or Taiwan with
all the wires draped around town .
I wish that the county and the Avista Corp.
would have more respect for our little community
and more concern for their images both private and proffesional .

There is a lot of room to expand the GRID on the south side of the river .
Don't take the easy route .
Do the right thing .
Do it on the Liberty Lake side
