Last year a young football player named Tim Tebow was (finally) given an extended chance at starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos and never looked back and the rest, as they say, is history.
Now, once again, a young athlete named Jeremy Lin is tearing up the basketball court and is making his own history.
One might ask, "what has the one got to do with the other?" I'm glad you asked that question. You see both young men did great things as young athletes, however, as they approached professional level sports they were told that they did not fit the mold and, therefore, had no chance of playing.
As we here in Colorad (and now the rest of the world) know, Tim Tebow pressed through the naysayers with great personal confidence in both himself and his Creator. He reminded the world there's more than one way of thinking, and more than one way of winning.
Now Jeremy Lin (facing even greater obsticles) steps up with the same self determination and, pointing to Tim Tebow as inspiration for trusting himself and his Creator, thrills fans and shocks even the most hardened of veterans.
Where am I going with all of this? Well, only to say that (as an old guy) it helps me to feel a little less leery and a little more hopeful about leaving this tired old world in the hands of such fine young men and our Creator. Just pray for them as they are young and need our support and guidance.
That's my opinion and you're entitled to it.
