“The Greeley Grizzler”

Since: Jul 11

#1 May 10, 2012
Throughout the Nation, the Occupy Movement is finally answering the question asked when they started, "What do you want?". Unfortunately the answer has recently become quite violent across the country. It seems they want just about anything that is too far to the left for the Administration to be involved in publicly. The buzz on the web is that they are the Administration's pet or left hand activists.
Now the Occupy Movement has set it's sights locally aiming at the issue of "fracking". A short explanation of fracking is (although it is not the root or basis for the protest) hydraulic fracturing of rock through high pressure water forced into the earth to (in turn) force natural gas out. I say the reason this issue is being used is as a premise for a local protest. The EPA itself has yet to, and will not, release its first report on the safety (or lack thereof) of fracking until later this year.
In short, Occupy Greeley needs some press (and apparently so does Occupy Ft. Collins) because they haven't been able to muster up much support in this area (after all, they have to combine two cities).
We'll talk more about fracking when the actual figures are in. Today however, I just wanted to discuss forceful or violent movements. After all, "The driving force of the most important changes in this world have been found less in scientific knowledge animating the masses, but rather, in a fanaticism dominating them and in a hysteria which drives them forward". The only time I would quote this person is in explaining those who have figured out how to give an unpopular movement popularity - Adolf Hitler.
Those involving themselves in the Occupy Movement want to be careful not to make their movement too popular or too violent as they might worry the Administration's power. If this should happen, they may find themselves facing the same fate that Ernst Rohm faced on the "night of the long knives". Along with his brown shirts group he protested in ways that Hitler did not want to be associated with.
The Occupy Protest will be held this Friday at Rancher Exploration, 7257 4th St. Greeley, from 2-5pm. The only reason I mention this is, if you want to (peacefully) present your objection to their movement, you'll know when and where to be. The debate continues on who originally said it, but it is as true now as ever, "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing".
That's my opinion and you're entitled to it.
