A heart breaking tragedy that I am fairly sure could have been avoided... I feel like this is yet another senseless killing!

I'm sure folks will say, oh he was drinking, blah blah. I'm willing to bet a paycheck that most, if not all of us, had an experience or two with alchol as a teen.

I just wish this business or shoot first and ask questions later mentality would not be so commonplace!

Did you even bother to read the details of the incident? According to news reports, the homeowner was alerted by a burglar alarm at 2 am, he confronted the intruder and told him to retreat, the intruder did not comply, the homeowner fired a warning shot, the intruder did not retreat and only then did the homeowner shot the intruder. The right to use self defense arises when one reasonably is in fear losing their life. Here a home intruder enters your home at 2 am and will not retreat when confronted. It was clear the homeowner acted within the law. But, somehow, you think of this in terms of teen drinking? Lib-think always amazes me.

REALLY GENIUS! I happen to live in the neighborhood. AND I HAVE MY FACTS CORRECT, YOU DON'T. You gun toting rednecks need to go live in the woods somewhere. This was a CHILD. And I'm guessing you NEVER drank as a kid. YEA RIGHT. I'm sick to death of these guns. This is supposed to be a civilized society. Yea, not so much with idiots like you running around thinking this is perfectly acceptable!

Well lets see here 1st off the 16 yr was drunk so who provided him with the alcohol. Now if any homeowner thinks an alarm is going to get the cops there any fast need to wake up and smell the coffee.
Now lets look at it from the homeower position you are asleep then you are suddenly awoke by the alarm going off you grab your gun and open your bedroom door and see a man comi.g up the stairs. You verbally tell him to leave and he still coming you fire a warning shot (which you should never do) and he walks past you toward rooms occupied by family members. So the homeowner did what he need to do to protect his faimly
The homeowner gave him 2 yes count them 2 chances to leave and he did not comply. The homeowner gave him more chances than I would have. If you are not invited in you are an intruder and at 2am with the alarm going off YOU are most definitely an intruder.

if this is in fact a total obliteration of the truth, please enlighten us to the real facts, that you allegedly have.
otherwise, I can't think of any reason somebody would be wrong for protecting their family.

this was a child? well, go to the Brunswick, Ga. forum, and see what children are capable of.

granted most unfortunate shooting and I would submit all can agree to that. BUT -where did a 16 year old get enough to get roaring drunk? And yes I did also as a kid - BUT not enought to ignore smeone firing a shot near me.(sobers you up REALLY QUICK)
second - if Ms.(bleeding heart) Marcia has conflicting evidence/comment to XDS45 -then by all means post it, offer up the "other side" and present the "facts" that XDS45 has misrepresented.
In the event, Ms. Marcia, that you cannot or do not have, opposing facts - then kindly shut up.
