Try going to olive hill for groceries. The new save a lot over there is great! And Superiors has the same sales ad as ralphs but a much better stock. Their ground chuck is always very lean. More lean than ground round at ralphs. Plus they also have a full service deli with yummy pizzas that give giovannis competition. It's a great place. Both stores are worth the drive thru olive hill.

I just stopped at Food Fair today b/c I was in a hurry and had no choice...the carryouts are my biggest issue...they will bag your groceries and pull the cart on through for you but not move from their position so you feel compelled to take out your own b/c you get the feeling they don't want to..I grew up in a small town and the carryouts when I was young almost didn't give you a choice...they took out your bags whether you had a cart full or whether they just picked up 3 or 4 bags and carried them out themselves...and they had the cart ready to go and standing in front of it to push it out themselves or they had the bags in their hands ready to walk out behind you...you knew they were there to help...what happened to that type of carryout service b/c it's definitely not at Ralphs...EXCEPT...and I have said it throughout my posts...the older gentleman with the beard...he ALWAYS helps...

Honestly, I am not sure. I know that most stores now a days try to meet the needs of handicap individuals. I'm sure they will try every way to help you.

I've been shopping at Ralphs for years and I only go other places when I can't find what I need there. I think everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait long in line either. There's always help waiting to carry your groceries if needed. I normally decline help so that assistance can be given to others that need it more than me. I will continue to support Ralphs even when another store of any kind comes to town.

Again...excited for IGA to open up...but if anyone from IGA is reading this thread or if any of you know someone involved in opening IGA...please, please, please tell them to try to get electric carts for the elderly...that will be the only way I can bring my grandmother there...I just called around to Superior, Foodland, and have already forgotten the 3rd place I called ..:)...and none of them have handicapped carts or even wheelchairs available...So now I either HAVE to go to Food Fair, Walmart, or Kroger (which I don't like any) this is a big deal for someone like me who has to take her grandmother shopping and do my own shopping at the same time b/c I can't leave my grandmother by herself at home while I go...so PLEASE get them.

@shopper...I agree, the girl with the flower does get quite a lot of attention from the carryouts...when I was in the other day one of the carryouts actually did bag the groceries...but he was talking to her and not even looking really at what he was doing...she had completely finished giving me my change and I had to wait on him to finish bagging...it's not like she was scanning like "the flash"...she was moving slow too and I waited for him to finish...then he just stood there and said "have a nice day"...which tells me he is not helping me out to the car with my groceries...and then kept talking to her as I was coming out of the aisle...If there are electric carts or buggies at IGA...will shop there ...

I dont like to shop at Ralphs because it is soo expensive. I will also agree that there are a few rude carryouts. I look at whos running the register because there are some really nice cashiers there, although you cant choose your carryout. Too bad.. I also know which carryout you all are talking about he is a smart mouth and always rolling his eyes or snickering and making fun of customers, but hes just a kid and hes not the only one and more than likely hes just trying to look cool in front of his buddies and the girls so call him out on it maybe he will realize customers notice, and this goes for the other carryouts too I dont think they are bad people they are just kids trying to be cool glad they are working though.

I do agree that these are just kids, however the boss is a boss for a reason. He is suppose to make sure sure his employess are doing what they are suppose to do. I think from now on out of spite if all I have is a loaf of of bread I am going to make sure I go through his line and make him carry it out. Actually hopefully I won't, hopefully IGA will be better. It sure can't be worse!!! 4 more days til opening I can't wait!!!!!

To those who say they are just kids...when I was 13 I was volunteering at a hospital gift shop and can guarantee I never treated anyone the way some of those carryouts treat the customers...my first paying job was at Winn Dixie as a cake decorator/deli worker when I was 16...and again I never treated anyone like they didn't matter or made them think that I wasn't there to help them in any way I could...so being a "kid" isn't an excuse...not being raised with manners or respect is the problem these days...I have three stepdaughters who don't live with us...and that's unfortunate b/c now they are teenagers and I can already see what kind of adults they are going to be...what values and respect we try to instill in them gets thrown out the window 3 days later when they go home...

I was called and told to look at this post. I am the grandmother of one of the teenagers you all want to bash. To starts at home: what a novel idea, to cook, clean and transport is this not what we are to do? Oh and yes I am very proud of him working. You see, I cannot brag on his mother. So I may go over board with him and his brothers accomplishments. We were given the responsibility of caring for these two children. I feel they are a blessing to our family. You see, we love them very much. Both boys were broken but still have some cracks. They make mistakes just as everyone does. I have spoken with him concerning some things on this post. This is a learning experience and yes this is to show him also work ethics. Until you have walked a mile in our shoes, please do not judge. We are doing this best we can in what was a bad situation. We do not think we are better then anyone else as someone stated. In fact, a lot of the times, we feel the need to stand up a little straighter because so many out there judge our situation. So I am requesting that you please quit the bashing. But please make no mistake there are a lot of court cases pending on topix forums. I do not want to have to join them, but I will.

I am not bashing anyone...I am simply stating that most of the carryouts at this location are not doing their jobs...I'm not picking out anyone in particular and have not said any names (because I don't know any of them)...but these days, people should be happy to have a job and do it to the best of their ability...I just feel that anyone who was able to get the job should know not to let a woman with a baby in her arms push her own buggy out or a woman trying to help her grandmother to the car do the same...someone said on television the other day that chivalry is dying...sometimes I have to agree...and in one of my earlier posts I even commented on my own stepchildren whom I love dearly having no respect or courtesy for anyone else...but that is not something I can control as they live with their mother. I have been a business owner in the past and can tell you that if I had ever seen my employees treat customers the way some of the customers get treated (and again, not just at Food Fair...this is an epidemic that goes beyond Grayson)...they would get their 3 strikes and their out. That was always my rule. So many in the customer service field have forgotten what it means to "take care of the customer", "the customer is always right" (and if they aren't...pretend they are)...those customers are what pays the payroll...and if customers feel like me and the new IGA is worth anything and/or Walmart comes to town...I don't think Food Fair will survive...just my opinion and the last I will put on this thread...my apologies if I offended anyone. It was not my intention.

First off I would appreciate it if you do not call me honey.. Second I am not on here to argue with anyone. Third even if I could not get anything done, maybe it would make people think before bashing minors Fourth I will defend him with my last breath and do not care if you would "blame" me or not.

I didn't see hear anyone bashing anyone. All everyone said was the way people were treated and how it was not right. Nobody was called any names, or threatened in any way. Other than people going to a different store to keep from being treated badly.

h and I don't think they singled out the minors, if I recall they said all but one bagboy.
