yeah. they wont deal with you on anything though. She won't work prices and they are so jacked up anyways, it's kind of offensive for people who actually shop from bigger companies. I want to give local stores my money. But it has to go both ways.

You gotta understand. Bigger companies are bigger for a reason. They are able to sell goods quicker there for they are able to buy in bulk. That gives them the upper hand and better prices on goods. That is a privately owned shop. Everything that they buy is one person dealing with a company to get gear. In order for them to make rent, insurance and bills they have to make a profit.(everything is priced at suggest retail also)
The woman can't even hire a 2nd person to work so shes working 7 days a week. Now if she drops her prices how will she keep her doors open?
She may as well pack up and move farther away if people will have that attitude. Look at Chris's Guitar shop. He had to move several times before finding a location where he can keep money coming in. He couldn't make much money at all in this town. And that was when the economy was doing good.
So if you feel like you can get a better deal from the "bigger companies" then by all means do. It will not hurt her feelings any.

Maybe you should visit the shop again. None of the stuff is marked at suggested retail. There are great prices in that store on all the stuff. It is a great shop and their hard work is what will keep the doors open for a long time. They love the work and take pride in making the customers happy. Shops move out because we as customers don't support them enough, instead we would call mail order places to say a dime.

With that attitude I wouldn't cut you a deal either!! There prices are cheaper than anywhere else. They don't work to give stuff away . Shop your bigger companies, most dealers wouldn't want to put up with that attitude. To many people say good stuff about this shop for anyone to take you serious.

I spend enough time in that shop that I could tell you every guitar and amp they have on a weekly basis. OK so maybe not all the guitars are marked at suggested retail. Why, cause she has some marked below that. But I do agree. She works her ass off to keep that shop going. And she will do good for that reason. She has worked in several other shops and knows the business inside and out.

I don't know how hard she works but most of the guitars she has in that store are trash. I have been playing guitar for 20 years and can walk in there on a given day and see a brand of guitar I have never heard of before. Right now she has 2 American Strats(used and overpriced) 1 American tele (Used $850) You can get a brand new Highway One for $749.99 at Chris' Guitar Shop or a American special Tele for $799.99 and those are brand new! Not trying to give her hell but she needs better product and more competetive prices. Chris' doesn't seem to have any trouble keeping the walls filled with great guitars and still cuts great deals and Morehead isn't as big as the Ashland area.

It's great to see any local business, especially those related to music, do well. They can't, however compete with companies like First Quality, Musicians Friend, and so on, and they never will. It's a matter of bulk and sales Quantity. Chris does do a great job for a small store, he always has. He did well when he was in Grayson. I like to support these businesses when I can, but when it comes down to getting a piece of equipment $200 cheaper, guess what I'm doing.

Wow! I think it's the best store ever and the prices are great! Some of the stuff is vintage so it will be priced higher. Those who don't know what they are looking at do think it high. Love the shop!

Wow! I just got back from the shop and they have added several lines of guitars! Best prices I've seen yet! Picked out the new Takamine I wanted! When I get my tax money I know where I'm going! They beat every one's prices! Great service and product info!

Pretty stupid...you can get better deals online and some go for free shipping. That post about better deals for larger companies is the biggest load of shit ever they use low prices based on a system, not the size of the business. If you think you should charge over $100 dollars more than the listed price, go ahead. It's people like you that make me want to buy everything in bulk. It's businesses like you that feel entitled to massive profits and aren't subjected to competition just because you're local that makes me sick. Wake up, people. You're being ripped off by going local the majority of the time. You all look at corporations as being pure evil, but you're blinded by propaganda. You think they get business by being hated? No, it's for being a good business that they're able to expand. Keep on supporting the local business, you're only hurting your own pocket, not the community.

I don't care what others think about the guitar shop, I just went in and the Takamine guitars were priced the same as musicians friend! I went home and looked them up , and they are! They try to provide everything they can to the musicians. I just found out that they are opeing a Recording Studio in the shop! Thumbs up to you guys, you have my support!
