In Kentucky, the bill introduced by Rep. Lonnie Napier (R-Lancaster), HB 120, is even more ambitious that the South Carolina bill. It would require anyone seeking public assistance via cash, food stamps or the state medical assistance program to be drug tested. Nearly 740,000 Kentuckians receive food stamps and 748,000 receive medical assistance

It is about time . People that have a job have to have drug screenings. So the lazy welfare cases need to also .

It will not pass through both houses and the Governor's desk. There would be too many votes lost if it does pass. Besides, all they have to do is get a doctor to write a script for the pain pills. There are plenty of docs who are willing to sell a script.

It sounds like a good idea but where will the money come from to fund these drug test? If you have ever received assistance then you would know that the current offices are already understaffed. I'm sorry to all the haters but this bill doesn't have a chance of passing. If it would happen to pass? Anyone fearful of failing would only have to drink 2 to 3 quarts of water and I will easily test negative.

It will can be either blood or urine. kentucky.com as a good article about it. I hope it does pass. I am not on assistance, but I am tired of my tax dollars going to pill heads.

Sounds as though you depend on your free money every month, or maybe just some of your family. We aren't haters, we are just tired of YOU and YOUR family living for free, while WE WORK OUR A$$ES off to feed you!

Almost as expensive as doing nothing to combat the fraud that these low life inbred hicks are committing every day of every month that they receive free everything! Expensive or not, it needs to happen! Sorry if that worries you or may cause you or a family member to go without drugs!

I think anyone wishing to receive any kind of assistance should have to pay for the tests themselves!

It is only fair for Government assisted residence to be subject to a random drug screen. I work to feed, and provide what my family needs. Truth be known, I am probably in worse health than 50+% of the "disabled"! I work union jobs, don't do drugs, pay taxes to support those that won't or can't support themselves or their family, and YES I am subject to random drug tests at any time. So if I have to be sub. to random test to support you lazy fucks(half of who sell drugs also)then hell yes you should be sub. to random tests to get "my" money! Anyone that doesn't agree with this is either afraid of losing their free ride or is just plain stupid! Nuff said for now, cause I could go on, and on, and on.

Finally retired. Agree completely with forafact.I "pissed away" more time with drug tests than I did working. Tests are mainly a insurance gimmick, so if you get burned or a piece of slag in your eye, take your pecker with you to medical. They will drug test you long before they worry about your eye.It is truly a shame to have to take a drug test to WORK for the addicted to spend their checks for dope.

I think the first test should be a hair folicle. This way we can legally go back six months. If you fail then I feel you should repay the state their $ from the time of determined failure(up to six mo.) and be put on top of follow up random urine drug screens. Must be easy to sit around getting loaded, selling contraband and not having to do shit else to get that check every month. Not saying that some do need the help, but at least make them follow the rules of the people that pay for the help they receive. You can't get a good paying job w/o a drug screen and continuous randoms. And we all know the more you make the more you pay!
