From what I have heard and understand, as more people get online then the service gets slower and as less people get online , the faster the service.
As for you, Just keep on believing what they tell you to keep your little mind in check with their schemes little hobbit. You will go far my friend, you will go far.

Listen numbnuts, you do know that the location listed for someone is more than likely different from their actual location, right? Just like my location is listed as Ashland, but I live in Grayson. So if you want to see a retard, you only need to look in a mirror, as you'll see a GREAT BIG ONE!

Please explain how I can do a speedtest in the morning and do one around 5pm and get 2 very different results? The one in the morning when everyone is still in bed is way faster than the one in the evenings(peak usage hours). So if he is the hobbit, then you must be Smeagol, and we know how far he went.

Why don't they bury the electric and cable lines instead of putting them on poles? It would cut down on lost of service during storms. Is it due to service employees would have to be laid off or wouldn't get that many hours?

yes, similar problems, losing internet several times a day and there seems to be no obvious reason for it.

Imagine moving here from an area that has the best high speed internet in the county..Cox Cable. If anyone considers Hughes..I strongly suggest you reconsider. They are even worse than Windstream. I'm beginning to wonder if the people around this area could get together and file some kind of class action suit against these companies that charge for high speed internet that we DON'T Get and probably never will.

It's not only your area, but pretty much every area that Windstream services. We have the same conditions here in rural Missouri....6MPS Download speeds fairly consistently from Midnight to about 4PM, then from 4PM until 11 or 12, the service goes completely to pot...with the download speed dropping to as low as .3MPS. Either it's because the school kids are all logged on in the evening hours for homework, or people are trying to download movies during those hours. At any rate, Windstream does not have sufficient Bandwidth to support their customers during periods of peak usage....and they seem to have No interest in upgrading their service....calling their support is a waste of breath. They pretty much have a monopoly in many rural areas, and they act accordingly.

About the only other option is Hughesnet satellite service, and after a couple of years of that, Windstream almost looks good, by comparison. There is hope on the horizon for many of us. The Federal government has a program to bring fiber optic service to rural areas starting next year. If and when that happens, it is going to put these Half-A$$ed companies out of business.

Windstream - formerly Alltel - deals primarily in rural areas where AT&T and Cable does not reach. So they screw their customers by cutting back on your Pre-Paid service. The longer you have Windstream - the worse it gets. It goes from simple problems with connections to speeds that resemble old Dial Up Windows ME. It isn't your computer that is flawed. Windstream knows people that live in rural areas don't have the access to facilities as Town Folk do. So they screw you by cutting back on your service. If you have X-Gbs per month -they cut it back so they can share YOUR rates with other purchasers - thereby making that much more CASH on the side. And since it is all but detectable - who's to say? Windstream has you by the nuts until AT&T (a much better service) appears. But I wouldn't hold your breath.
I would have to agree with everything you said. When we first got Windstream we got around the 12mbps we were paying for, now we're lucky to get 4-5mbps, and usually less than that during weekday evenings. It's so bad that you have a hard time trying to watch Hulu without it constantly buffering. Guess I'll put Hulu on hold until something better(fingers crossed) comes around.

Hate to see people lose their jobs, but I'll be glad when these half-assed companies are out of business. If you can't do honest business, then you shouldn't be in business!

In 2012 in the Morgantown,Elverson area Windstream is awful!

First if you have a Mac, they do not know how to configure. There are many many people that can't send emails or receive them.

Techs come to house and blame modems, put new ones in and it still doesn't work right.

Some people have not been able to send email or receive for over a month now. Totally UNACCEPTABLE!

Solution? Drop Windstream and go with cable. Service is 100% better, techs know what they are doing. Might be a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Is anyone else having trouble with Windstream DSL internet service? My internet only works during daytime hours, Monday thru Friday, and starts giving me trouble after about 4:30 in evenings and entire weekends. I have called and called and people on the phone are of no help at all. They keep telling me someone is coming to my house but only one time has someone showed up and they replaced modem which helped for a few days. Internet keeps kicking me off to the point you can't even get on it because it would/has take up to an hour just to view a single page article, if it can even stay open this long. I also have a laptop that is having problems with wireless connection - for which Windstream tells me my "card" must have gone bad, which I find to be an odd coincidence that this wireless problem occurred at the same time I started having problems overall. It's really hard for me to believe the poor quality customer service over the phone.
Yes I have trouble with my connection all the time they are always working on it....why cant they just fix it once and for all I just do not get how we can only have one internet provider. Wished there was a way to bring in more providers so the prices would br cheaper and the service would be better...

I don't have windstream, I have Suddenlink. I switched to Suddenlink because my Windstream was awful, now my Suddenlink is just as bad. I have to use the internet at work most of the time if I need to finish something important. Oh and if you want to even attemot to watch Netflix, don't its a waste of time. I am aggravated because I paid for Netfli and I can't watch it for the internet!!!

We let our Hulu account run out due to our slow windstream speeds. It was to the point that we spent more time watching our movie buffer than watching it.

for most of you complaining about wind stream, if you don't like it than get a different Internet system. they do work hard, it's hard to fix everyone's Internet and phone when there own house phone is ringing off the hook asking them to come fix this and that, it gets annoying when your phone rings and they want something fixed. Call a trouble ticket in, they have certain jobs to do a day. They have to do the ones that gets sent to them first. So stop complaining.!

They do the ones sent to them first? Hell I've been trying to get someone out to fix my internet for months, and I've yet to see one. I might see bigfoot before I see a windstream tech. The only reason your daddy still has a job is because suddenlink sucks as bad. Let another internet company come into the area, and you'll be the one complaining when daddy is drawing UNEMPLOYMENT!
