Are you aware that the Laurens County Council will consider a Motor Sports ordinance and modify our current noise ordinance for the entire county? If these ordinances are passed you may have a ATV, go cart, or stock car track in your backdoor! Would any of these elected officials want one in their neighborhood? Would they worry that their property values would decline or that they wouldn't be able to sell their home for a fair market price? What about the health cocerns related to of 95 DBA noise levels. No, they probably don't worry about any of those things because it does not affect them.I found a website that's interesting about some of things going on in Laurens County.

Thema: Today is Jan. 5, 2007...does your post mean that Laurens Council is proposing a change now? I went on the site you gave & read the noise ordinance, only it appears that it took place in 2006...is that correct or am I wrong?

There are seven members that vote. Dates are posted on website please attend if you care about your property values and your right to peace and quiet. You may have a track coming to your neighborhood if this passes. READ THE FREE ADVERTISER IN THE MAIL SATURDAY 01/06/07 IT WILL EXPLAIN MORE.

So,let me get this straight. Laurens County does have a noise ordinance? I've never called the sheriff to complain about noise, from a raucous party or overzealous lawnmower - but, if a racetrack sprang up next to me, you're telling me that I can't complain? Or, maybe, I can complain, but my complaints would be hollow as there'd be nothing the sheriff could do about the noise from a racetrack that is disturbing the peace? WHAT?

Sounds like we live in a backward county - where's the protection of the people? My family has lived here a long time - maybe it's worth the trouble moving to a county where the rights of people are protected, not stomped on. What is the benefit of living in Laurens county?

This entire noise ordinance ordeal has been going on since March 2005 (and before). Mileback began operation and the residents complained. Mileback thought it was grandfathered. County initiated and paid for (with our money) a court action. Court ruled that Mileback is 100% bound by the noise ordinance. Council, Sheriff & County Attorney wont enforce the ordinance. There is an orchestrated movement by the Council to get Mileback approved. Some say it is fear of Mileback suing the County due to false permission by a County official. Who? Mileback (Daniel Hurley) wont say. Some say it is because of increased business to local stores (Beer sales?). Doesn't a person by the last name of Nash have part ownership in Cross Roads store at 101 & Greenpond? Same last name as Councilman for district 1. Things that make you think our County Government is dirtier than Washington. Now the Council wants to railroad a Motor Sports ordinance which is ridiculous. Read it on www.laurens-county-update.com there is alot of other good stuff on it. Contact the Council and voice you disgust and attend the Council meetings. 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30
p.m. in the Court House on the square.
County needs to get sued by all the citizens if this goes through.

I've heard trhe noise from the Mileback Racetrack and it's terrible, especially when the breeze is just right. Imagine this noise seven days a week, every night except Sunday. Sunday's racing would be 2-5 PM. Whatever happened to the "Day of Rest" Try resting with a 95db noise level! All got to kill this new ordinance. It will just ruin your way of life and suck the value out of your home. No one wants to put up with that noise EVERY NIGHT!
January 22 at 5:15 PM: the County Council is having a special session on the proposed Motorsports Ordinance. Show up and voice your opposition. Tell Ted Nash to represent the "people", not some nuisance racetrack!

Sounds like Laurens County is going backward by adding landfills and proposing all-week racing via the new Noise Ordinance. Their trying to promote the Owings Industrial Park soliciting businesses to move their yet filling the Gray Court/Owings area with landfills, litter and now lots of noise, seven days a week. Yeah, that will bring prosperity to a county that needs it! Mileback will just chase newcomers with $$$ away and deter more new business. Council Members, especially Mr. Nash, you live near the Mileback racetrack and endure the noise and the dust. Welcome to a once peaceful area. Pass this ordinance and goodbye peace and quite. Sell your house for 1/2 it's value. Thanks !!

I've always been a racing fan and restore classic cars. I've never heard of such a foolish proposal like the "Motor Sports Noise Ordinance". Even Daytona doesn't allow racing seven days a week. look, I just moved hear and if I had known about Mileback racetrack racing every night and Sunday afternoon, I would have moved elsewhere.
It's unlawful to have your dog bark late at night, but it's OK to have 350+ horsepower cars with tin cans for mufflers race and create 95db noise and dust you can choke on. I won't hear my neighbor's dog over the increcibly load roar of Mileback.
You got to be kidding? The Laurens County Council is actually considering this? No sense at all!

Special study session at the Laurens County Courthouse - Monday, January 22, 5:15 PM. Show up and protest!

Noise....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...It "s the country people...To those of you that live in the noise distance of the race track, didn't you know when he put it there it was going to be noisy? Why didn't you stop it then? To those of you wanting to buy home/land in the area...Don't...no one is making you buy there...Move on with your lives...there is more issues in Laurens County (Gray Court) that need your attention more...I work in the mortgage world and the race track is not going to bring your property value down...the old cars on blocks, the yards that look like fields, the houses with not up grade, the clothes drying on your shrubs, etc....is what is bringing your property down.

Mindless puppets. Time limits are established in the proposed Motor Sport Ordinance. No track has even hinted that they would run anything other than what they have been. Can you list any race track in existance that operates races or testing seven days a week.
95 dB is the max limit allowed under the new proposed ordinance, but that doesn't mean that's the sound level that will emanate during the entire race. As a matter of fact you will be hard pressed to LEGALLY get 5 mins of 95 dB or higher reading in a night of racing.
Let's all run in circles yelling the sky is falling. MIght want to change that to a zig zag line, if we run in circles someone might say we a running a race track.

For your information the ones that are fighting to protect their peace and quiet were here first. To bad for you if you work in the mortgage world and you don't know neighboring properties can bring property values down
