This week I've seen a cop car sitting on the sholder of entrance ramp to South 121/360 from William D. Tate at 4:30am when I'm going to work. No lights, just sitting there waiting for those pesky criminals heading to work at 4:30am. He was giving someone a ticket this morning even though there's almost no one on the road. Seems to me it doesn't matter if you are black, white, mexican, chinese, or what ever, they're equal opportunity vultures preying on those who pay their salary. Protect and serve?

Really, I thought I was paying them to protect and serve. I can see the need for traffic control when the roads are busy. But for my money I would rather they were patrolling the neighborhoods at 4:30am rather than sitting on the side of the highway when there's little to no traffic. I'm saying this because I pay a lot of money to live in a nice Grapevine community and I've been robbed twice in the last two years. All the while the police are sitting on the side of the highway givng tickets to the citizens at 4:30am. Their job is to protect the citizens of Grapevine from criminals, not prey on the citizens who are going to work to earn money and pay taxes.

What exactly did you get pulled over for 'illegal parking'?

Grapevine PD definitely writes a large number of tickets.

Think about this way. What part of Grapevine does not have pedestrian traffic? Now, would you rather write tickets to slow people down to the legal speed limit or see a child hit by someone who is speeding for no reason other than they have no patience.

Personally I have had 3 tickets in Grapevine, 2 in Southlake, 2 in Trophy Club/Keller and 1 in Colleyville in 10 years. So you are not alone. Of course my tickets are for speeding yours are for other kinds of stupidity.

I also go to work around 4:30. I'd been pulled over 5 times in 2006 for nothing. Did not get one ticket though. They were just "checking me out". Dark windows and dark truck. I think the police know my truck now. Have not been pulled over since. Knock on wood. I agree. Police need to patrol the neighborhood and leave the early commuters alone. Bedford is worst than Grapevine though.

Irving is much worse than Grapevine. They have the highest fines in the metroplex not to mention your car and apartment will probably be broken into since the crime rate is bad. You should have just gotten your car inspected on time, obey the speed limits, and not run the red lights.

There's no money in real police work, so why would they bother?

I've had several ex-police officers tell me the exact same thing; it's just not worth the time and effort. I do have a lot of respect for those controlling the 114/121 funnel traffic lights on their bikes. I've never had a problem with anhy others. Except for the 22 year old power-tripping jerks, harrasing high tax paying citizens because their kids ride a minibike down the street Never mind the a-hole doing 60 mph down Kimball with a trailer full of mowers.

Since 1992 I have growp up to be a man and no longer gets in miner trouble. Now I wonder why I haven,t been stopped are have had any problems with police then? Because I don,t break the law! Same goes for these nuts until they stop breaking law they will have to deal with these cops. Now the reason why you have been lucky you dipstick is probly because thankfully you don,t do anything wrong. These people break the law what do you expect sure they will get stopped are pulled over. And by the way since you have lived in grapevine all these years why don,t you stay on your own topix forum?

I have had several personal experiances with my children and based on these I feel that the cops in Flower Mound and Highland Village. Let me back up. I have lived here 7 years and brought three boys up here. I have many stories as do other parents. Just so you know, My two older boys are good kids. No, I am not one of those parents in denial. I was very involved in my kids lives. No drugs, good students ect...One just graduated from college and the other is in college. They both have worked and help pay thier own way.

From what I heard, the detectives are reviewed on how many cases they send to the DA office. This could be wrong information but it does seem from my experiance that they will send everything that comes their way to the DA, no matter how silly it is. Just pray that your neighbor or one of your kids friends does not decide to file false allegations against you or your family. You could find yourself having to hire an attorney and pay thousands of dollars just to have the DA dismiss the case. I had this happen in both citys. Both situations involved a girl and another boy getting revenge.

On the other hand, I have had very kind officers help me when I needed it, I have had some very good experiance with HVPD patrol officers.

Maybe the Mayor needs to look in to how many of the cases sent to the DA are dismissed for lack of evidence. Of course, these would only be cases where the citizen could afford to hire an attorney. The ones that cant are probably forced in to a plea.

What you've just described is called the "American Judicial Corporation". The police just get by, but the lawyers and judges must really laugh it up on the back of their yachts. I know someone who paid his lawyer (who happened to be an Oklahoma senator at the time) and the judge $1000 each and his DUI vanished as if it never happened. Don't ask me how I know but it is a fact. Oh, and the person wasn't in the car and the car engine was off at the time.

Nice message here but apparently my freindly freind of all times it is what they all say. Yeaa blame the cops for everything.......... You are up here just trying to get your kids out of a pile of dog do do..........go get a life.

Hey big bad John,(your log in name says it all)
You dont know what your talking about.I have always made my children handle the consequences of their actions. When they did something wrong, they paid the price. That is why they are responsible young adults now. I never believed in being my childs best friend, only their parent.I know my child was innocent becuase he was with me when the alleged incident occured. There are innocent people charged and or prosecuted on a daily basis for crimes they did not commit. There are also innocent people that go to jail for crimes they did not commit. Try searching the subject on Dallsnews.com . Your wrong so you go get a life!

Never mind PBJ. He's just another clueless, childless, childlike, "Internet Battle" moron. Arguing with him is like the Special Olympics; no matter who win's you're still retarded.(No offence to those in the Special Olympics please.)

If you don't mind posting the information, what was the accusation how much did it cost you to prove innocent before guilty?

The charge was misdemeanor assault. It cost us $3000 in attorneys fees. The charge was dismissed. The detective never interview my son before charges were filed. He only interview the complainant and his friends. The detective called our home and told us that charges had been filed and that our son needed to turn himself in at the police station.

You really have a way of blowing things way out of proportion. And there you go calling people names again. You know, some people need a good butt kicking to put their attitude back in sync with reality. And I think you are one of those people.

Back to the subject, I think our legal system is supposed to give a presumtion of inocents until proven guilty. I have no problem with law inforcment officers who do their job correctly. I worked for the campus police during college. I can say from experience that it takes a certain type of person who goes to work looking for the bad in people. Wasn't for me. It just helped pay the bills while getting my engineering degree. Now days I design next generation protection for the governement to protect likes of you.

$3k and the false charges were dismissed = Judicial Corporation. That money sure could have gone to something more useful: down payment on school, car, savings, anything but filling the pockets of a lawyer and a court system. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't always a good thing to get both sides of the story before assigning guilt?
At least it's not on his record now. The fine he would have had to pay would have been a fraction of the lawyer fees, but that record never goes away. Good for him.

Big Bad John, what are you, 10 years old? If not, you desperately need to go back to school and get a decent education. You cannot spell; you cannot even construct a legible sentence!
