your son is in jail for a crime he did commit. He admitted to killing and the evidence showed why. Drunk. you also did not say where he was coming from. stuck on Blood evidence. what is the legal limit you feel your son was at since the evidence was tested wrong? wrong in your opinion.

your website just has what you feel everyone should feel. you must put facts. as I did above. the truth.... at the time you call an accident, I call it Murder, why did your son refuse to do the sobriety test.... and at the few hours later what would his blood be at 230am coming from the bars drinking what Roy calls watered down Crown/ I call it crown on the rocks

Gina - I am so very, very sorry for the tremendous loss your family has had in the death of Darren in the accident of June 12, 2004 when my son had an epilepsy seizure.

Let me educate you a little. Law enforcement officers have it tougher. We lose our jobs if we commit a crime. Most civilian jobs are not affected by a criminal offense.

But let me educate you further. If a police officer commits a hit and run while intoxicated, he/she will automatically get a harsher sentence because the general public believes we should be held to a higher standard. You[dsntslp] even said it yourself. Whatever happened to "equal protection under the law?" Oh that's right, it is for everyone else except police.

We do hold ourselves to a higher standard! If an officer commits the crime you described we don't want him as a police officer.

What we need to do is be fair in sentencing and treat everyone equally. If you break the law the punishment is set by legislation not police. If you don't want to do the sentence, don't commit the crime.

Good luck to you.

For your information my man My ralitive police officers and my freind police officer would dis=agree with you information here. We see that sometimes police officers get off by only loosing there jobs. Harsher sentences you say? I say your wrong. Also we have fine police department here and not so sure how you fellow,s run your work. This hole forum is filled with dog do do which it why I often rear my big feet in here. Now back to your job less time rambling and more time out there getting those bad guys. Instead of eating donuts behind the computer responding to some goofball you ought to be busy.

This is true earl alot of police officers do get off very easy you ought to know that. They may loose there jobs but rarely do they end up doing the time that they should have served. You know this better then me. I will have let you talk to a few of my ralatives to prove your wrong on that. They have had a couple of officers doing some bad things and they only lost there job for it. Didn,t serve any real time. True a police officer that does a bad crime should really be sentenced longer then the average person. Even officers I know would agree to that. Those who serve and promise to uphold and protect swares this and if not stuck to there promise that should be grounds for a bigger punishment. Facts are facts....

Why is it that a drunks parents show so much concern for the DRUNK THAT KILLED A POLICE OFFICER DOING HIS JOB? A fine officer lost his life and a drunk took it and there is NO excuse for a shorter prison term. The prison term should have been life because thats how long the children will be missing their father. Life is how long a loving wife will be missing her husband. A husband that tried with his heart and soul to protect the people of this community. Some people NEED to accept the actions of their kids and stop crying because they feel their child is a victim. The drunk is not the victim here. It is an intentional act to drink and get behind the wheel of a vehicle. The parents should step up to the plate and STOP CRYING BECAUSE OF STUPIDITY OF THEIR SON. A seizure victim would not have been able to use a phone due to being in postictal syndrome. I guess that since your son can do no wrong that he probably was not postictal either was he. I GUESS THE FACTS AND THE EVIDERNCE SPOKE THE TRUTH AND THE JURY SAW THE REAL FACTS OF THE CASE. The only mistake the jury made was not imposing the longest sentence allowed by law.

Do you think Michael Alayon (the hit and run Miami-Dade detective) should also get a life sentence?

If the hit and run driver took a life while drunk then he should face the same punishment. Getting drunk IS A CHOICE and if you choose to get drunk and drive then you should face the same punishment NO MATTER IF YOU ARE THE POLICE OR NOT.
