And where were the parents? And who in their right minds would let a child on a roof?

First I tried to understand how a child got out on a roof to begin with. Then I was thinking how the child got the bike on the roof. Then I was think where were the parents. Now the first thing is, why did the child have access to the roof anyway, 2nd is it should have been kind of hard for them to get a bike out a window (and if there is a door, it should have been lockec), 3rd, the parents must be children also, not to know that you need to watch a 22 month child at all times. This is why no children should have children. Bless GOD that the child is still with us.

I have 4 young kids and work 2 jobs, most nights I don't get in until after 12 midnight. My children tend to get up well before I do at least 2 times a week and climb things that I have to get on a chair to get stuff off of. I caught one attempting to get on my 2nd floor roof 2 weeks ago, after removing a fan at 5:30 a.m. (only window not locked) Thank God I caught him before he was fully outside. You never know what they are capable of and I'm not shocked by this. I truly feel sorry for the child but also for the parents. Don't jump to conclusions until the rest of the story comes forward. I'm guessing the parents were still in bed.

I agree with Pops. Imagine how the parents feel now. This was a freek accident and It's easy to point the fingers at the parents and say that child servies should get involved, but no one knows the full story and I feel horrible this happened to the child but I also feel bad for the parents for their pain. Accidents happen unfortantely :*(

Do parents ever TEACH kids anything anymore, like heights are dangerous and can hurt you. It's not a good Idea to do that. Are they ever told NO and scolded for getting in things that should not be in. Seems to me that Parents need to be taught parenting. I have seen more children allowed to run ramped over the house with no respect or discipline at all for things or people or places. Can't imagine what it will be like 50 years from now, just glad I won't be here! Tell the kid NO and send them to their room. Parents allow children to make too many choices and do not set enough limits and they are too soft the children learn no self control or discipline.

The posting rules say "BE POLITE"-
but I really want to say some very unpleasant things about the parents of this child.
RIDING A TRIICYCLE ON A ROOF???
A child falling out a window is somewhat understandable- not quite forgivable, but I've had children, and can almost see that.
But RIDING A TRIICYCLE ON A ROOF???
Completely NOT understandable.

OMG WHAT ARE SOME PEOPLE THINKING!?!?!?!?
How can anyone feel sorry for these parents? Their 2 yr old was on the roof with a bike!! That's the problem now a days--people are given back children after something like this happens and eventually they are dead!
Where the hell were the parents? And the person who said her children get up before she does and sometimes they get into things--NO WAY if your kids are awake you should be awake. Your kids should not have the opportunity to do get into things!! Yes sometimes kids get into things but they should not be hurt to extremes or ALMOST KILLED!! I have a 2 yr old and she gets into things but nothing that would hurt her I make sure of that!
PEOPLE NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE!! You cant just let your kids ALONE. As for "not being shocked by this" you are an idiot!!

I agree with the statement...Where were the parents?? First of all, Why was the young child being left unattended?? Second, the windows should always be locked when you have children. All we can hope is that the parents were not the ones putting the child in harms way to begin with. Hopefully the child is ok..

As a parent who's raised two children, I can honestly say, even if I was sleeping my children knew better then to climb out onto the roof of my home. I'm sick of children dying and being injured and people calling it a horrible accident, I don't agree, it's parenting, or lack of it, pure and simple.

On one hand, I agree with Pops, we should wait until we hear the rest of the story before jumping to conclusions. But I have to admit my first question was where were the parents. The article made the roof sound like it was a community place were people in the building went often, not as if the kid drug the bike out the window onto the roof. I hope the little boy is ok! I want to know how this became possible to happen. Was mom/dad out there and looked away for a split second? Were they asleep inside somewhere? Was there a babysitter? That makes a big difference.

I do agree with WHERE WERE THE PARENTS but i also agree with CHILDREN CAN DO THINGS QUICK... & people do make mistakes. I'm not sayig that the parents should get off scott free but they shouldnt have their child taken away with out the full story. I could see if they were in the other room doing drugs while he was on the roof; then yea he should be taken away. I think if it was an absolute mistake then yea they should go through some parenting classes and child safety courses. I'm pretty sure everyone with children know its not always easy and you do make mistakes. PARENTS ARE ONLY HUMAN... Judging people is WRONG... only GOD can do that. and for someone to say "the parents must be children also, not to know that you need to watch a 22 month child at all times." WHAT?!?!?! no matter at what age when its ur first time being a mother you never know what to expect. Parenting is tough and some people dont know what they are in for but just because your young doesnt mean u cant handle it. in the 1800s people were having children at the age of 16 and children got hurt then too. i pray for the family and the little boy and that he makes it through.

For those who have said "we don't know the whole story, don't jump to conclusions"-I have this to say. The parents are 100% at fault. Maybe they were sleeping was offered as a reason. When your 22 month old child is awake YOU need to be awake. This happened, I believe, around 9AM? Anyone who's ever lived with a toddler knows they are not going to "sleep in" like your average teenager. And here's something else to think about. How exactly does a 22 month old child not only A)Get himself out the window that should have been locked or gated for his protection B)Get his tricycle out the window? Which leads me to believe that the tricycle was already out there (parents fault!!), he saw it, and decided to go out. You need to TEACH children what is dangerous. You teach your child that stoves are hot, running into the street is dangerous, knives are sharp, that you don't stick your fingers or other objects into outlets. We, as parents, need to take responsibility for our actions! To make excuses is pathetic. What possible excuse makes your son falling off a roof okay?

The "entire story" is, fact is that child is 22 months old, the parents should be prosecuted for this. I'll never understand why you have to pass a test to drive a car, but have a baby it's a free for all weeeeeee

What the hell was a child doing riding a tricycle on a roof? What kind of parents would allow that? This is absolutely ridiculous and shouldn't have happened. Let's pray this little boy is okay.
