A 22 cal rifle and a "military style AR 15" do not a crime make, so why mention them?

As for shooting across Route 422, that is just plain stupid behavior on the part of the knuckleheads doing the shooting.

Go back to school and learn how to spell and/or type. Until then, keep your fingers in your pockets while sitting at a keyboard.

Sincerely, did you learn that being rude gets you what you want in life? It is spelled grammar, and I agree with the rest of the people that your lack of education is an embarrassment. At least you didn't say 'grow a pare.' Congrats. Now go get your GED.

What exactly would you cut? What do you consider nonessential? Since my children go to that school, I'd like an answer, please.

Martin – please move on and stop whining about the mountain bikes! You know they were purchased with a grant designated specifically for physical fitness and wellness. No school tax money was used. Did your state taxes pay for the grant? Yes, but if CLSD didn't get the grant some other school district would have. CLSD’s number one priority should be academics, but physical fitness and wellness have their place too. This country’s children become more and more obese every year. I am glad the school district continues to stress physical fitness. It’s certainly evident that many parents could care less if their kids get any exercise. Anyway, all you ever do is whine and complain about the past. Changes are needed at the local and state levels of government to fix the education budget crises and keep reckless spending in check. However, CLSD is doing a great job educating our kids and any serious school board candidate must lay out a plan to ensure this will continue. Please tell us your ideas for reducing spending while guaranteeing the same high standards of excellence at CLSD. Tell us about the future you see at CLSD without dwelling on the past. No one will take you seriously as a candidate until you can articulate some real tangible ideas and I’m not talking about buses left on idle in the parking lot.

Let's start by cutting football. "NO! We can't cut almighty football!" is what I would be hearing.

So many districts around here have football STADIUMS (with heated bathrooms that have hot & cold running water and also have concession stands with full commercial kitchens) that cost at least seven figures, if not eight.

Just the AstroTurf at Hershey High must have cost in the mid-six figures. Look at the local high school baseball fields in comparison. They play on poorly-groomed sandlots and those players are lucky if they have a port-a-pot near the field.

I know of a school district near Philadelphia (Central Bucks) which just hired a "history" teacher at over $100,000 per year, because he was also hired as head football coach. Don't history teachers usually make around $40,000/year?

What else can we cut? Why have buses going out three times in the morning and three times in the afternoon, not counting late buses? Why not pick up ALL the kids at once, then drop off the elementary school kids first, then the middle school kids, then the high school kids? Most of you think I have it backwards. Study after study have confirmed lately that high school starts far too early to allow teenagers to think clearly, while elementary school kids thrive on early hours.

Why have 500 school districts in PA (not 501, contrary to popular opinion - two districts merged in the last decade). Isn't that far too many? I know Annville-Cleona could easily merge with Palmyra to create the "Western Lebanon School District." Think of the savings in duplicated administration that could be cut!

Football stadiums aren't just used for football. They also make money back through tickets and food sales. There's nothing wrong with them.

Look for some of the comments on here attributed to Thomas Paine - Barondick's alter ego on Topix. That will show you where he's coming from.

I agree carl. I would vote for Barondick over the nitwit tea partiers, who would do for Cornwall-Lebanon what the CARE board did for Palmyra a couple decades ago, i.e. start a civil war in the district.

It's all coming to a head soon people. Just wait.

Soon events will unfold that will rival those of the Civil War because this nation is more divided now than it was then.

Just wait.

And for the record, this isn't the result of government handouts to poor people without food or medicine. This is the result of rampant, unchecked greed on a level that staggers the mind, and the ability of the people who benefit from it convincing everyone else it's the fault of government handouts to poor people without food or medicine.

Soon their reign of bullshit will come to an end. And I can't wait to sit back and watch this nation collapse on itself like it deserves. Does it make me happy? Of course not. But sometimes the only way to cure the infection is to kill the patient. Nothing says we can't start over with some NEW rules and perhaps new borders.
