I personally think its sad and quite concerning that the police department has such a high turn over rate. I have been a citizen of grantville for 6 years and out of the entire police department there is only one officer left that has been there for more than 1 - 2 years. Does this not concern anyone else? Seems to me that maybe the police chief or the city council needs to be looked into. Several people in the city council do not even want a police department, but you better bet your ass that if they had an emergency they would expect them to be there in a heart beat. The few times that I have seen the so called chief of police he was very unsociable - as a police chief I feel that you should make your presence known with the community - they should know who you are and what you are about. I personally don't understand how someone with no experience as an actual "on the road" officer can be a police chief and run a police department efficiently. I'm sad to say that the officer that has been there for awhile now will probably be gone soon as well. As a citizen this makes me feel concerned for my safety and the well being of my family. I want to know that if I have an emergency that I can count on someone who cares to be there.

You need to do a little more research on the police chief. He is actually a very qualified person and we are very lucky to have him. Check his bio a little closer. The main reason we have the turnover we do is our Council. They do not see the value of any supervisor or employee. They do not even see the reason for air conditioning for employees. This is a very technical litiginous world and it should be up to the experts to manage it. Here, the uninformed Council manages it. Would you put your carreer on the line for them? We all have our very lives on the line as well. As citizens we need to support our police department. The Council is more important than the police or the citizens....pin your career on that and see how long you stay.

Maybe you should do some more research "just sayin". How about you visit www.electhalley.com - then tell me where are his priorities?!?! Apparently not with the city of Grantville Police Department. He is a joke the police department will never amount to anything, and we will not be able to keep any quality officers who actually care about the citizens and their safety instead of meeting their "monthly quota". It sickens me to think that people actually believe this man cares about the city, citizens, much less his officers that put their life on the line every day and night while he sits comfortably in his office - if he even has enough time to show up to work that is - because, you know, he's a busy man with running for commissioner and all. Grantville is the last thing on this mans mind.

The officers of the grantville police department are the ones that put their life on the line everyday - the chief does nothing but sit behind a desk and pretend he knows what he's doing - when in reality he has no clue how to run a police department - he is demeaning to his officers and could care less about their safety. I agree there are a lot of problems with the city council, but there are also people on the city council that want the police department to thrive as well as the officers that are employed there. I suggest you conduct your research again and a little more in depth this time before you say that grantville is lucky to have him as a police chief because grantville is anything but lucky to have him

It's obivious that you, concerned citizen, have not done your research. The Chief of Police also puts his life on the line and your town is lucky to have him. He has brought quality to a police department that was completely down in the dumps. He also got rid of officers that did not want to work for quality officers that are great at their job. The problem is your City Council, who obviously doesn't want Grantville to move forward. It seems that since you are so concerned you would be more proactive in finding ways to replace the council or doing something else positive to help your town instead of destroying people's character from a computer screen.

Most chiefs do put their life on the line, and most chiefs also respect their employees as well-but this one does none of the above. He has brought nothing to this department except a bad attitude and made a hostile work environment. Most of the officers that were great at their job have left, which is the best thing they could've done. If not then their careers probably would have been ruined by this man. He needs to go and he needs to go now.

Most of the average citizens know nothing of what goes on in the police department. If there are actual officers that have a grievance, they need to be heard by the Council. There is nothing on this forum that can fix this if it is broken.

The cheif is like all of the other city employees. he is a yes boy for the moment, and then life goes on while he bleeds money out of the city, like everyone else does. it still might be a good idea to sell the city to the hightest bidder, and start over.

If the community knew everything that went on, the city council members would all be put out on their collective behinds. Your police chief was well-educated, and over qualified for the City of Grantville. Ask these questions at your next council meeting: Have any of the council members ever broken city codes, or the law? Ever wonder why the council acts like the $$ in the checking account is theirs and not for the community? Ever get an actual factual readout as to what the police department makes to go into the budget for the department, and how much of that actually gets used for the police department, or the city? How about the spy business? How about folks being asked to follow other city employees around and report back to some of the council about their activities, on and off the clock? Grantville is a scary, corrupt, twisted town...and needs to be cleaned out. Starting with the council. If you are pro-council, that probably means (just my opinion!) you are in agreement with their questionable ethics/morals/practices. All you have to do is pull up a few newspapers recording accounts of meetings, and view some history. Or better yet, just be a spider on the wall during some of the closed meetings. ;)
Oh, if some folks walked into the right courtroom and verbalized some of the corrupt practices they knew/saw....the city of Grantville would be shut down, completely.

That is what i have been saying all along. it is not a matter of what is good for the city, or those of the city. it is what pads the city officials pockets. sadly enough. no one will speak up at the city meetings because they are worried about what might happen to them. it is like the water park. and the grocery store (Pipe Dreams) and as for everything else in this town. the city officials, and city gov. have sucked the life out of it. as long as the people who are in office are in office. Grantville will spiral out of control until nothing is left. while the city gov. just sit around thinking up dumb shit to do. it would be a major event if a large majority of the town would show up at a council meeting and back all of these guys into a corner........

What do you want them to do? Hold your hand and sing along with you? You can talk shit all day long about the officers but I guarantee. When you need one they will be there. So think about what you say before you run your mouth!
