I personally think it's stupid to have Trick or Treat Tuesday before Halloween, it should be on Halloween.

Also, you would think the Halloween parade in Hanover would be on Halloween, nope that's always the day before.

UGH! Weird, whatever it is what it is.

When we were kids we trick-n-treated for a whole week starting at 6:00PM and we would walk all over town with out our parents. Most times our costumes were homemade except for our mask that were usually store bought. Every night we would bring our bags of goodies home and put them in a couple of big bowls. My gosh we had candy, cookies, apples, nickels and pennies for a long time. It was so much fun. In school we dressed and had parties wearing our costumes. Today the schools recognize it as a pagan custom so most times it is no longer permitted. That was maybe 30 yrs. ago. Growing up in the 50's, 60's and 70's was truly fun to be a kid.

Another holiday St. Valentines day. We gave out valentines to our friends in school with a party. On that night we went around the neighborhood and slipped valentines uder doors of kids we knew. Sometimes we would knock on the door and hide and watch their response as they opened the valentine envelope. I guess this was before computers, so many technical things and so many laws to protect us citizens, huh.

Exactly. This crap of parents taking kids from town to town for several days to "clean up" is a real crock of sh!t. Just plain greed.

And people have the stupidity to actually wonder why so many don't give candy anymore.

I always love the fact we tell our kids to not take candy from strangers.....unless it is halloween, in that case go get as much as you can. Don't talk to strangers...but go sit on that guys lap and tell him what you want...... you just have to laugh.

No. You're not greedy. Just another opinionated idiot from East Orange throwing their 2 cents into something that doesn't concern them in the least.

If you are referring to my post regarding our trick-r-treating ordinaces. I was speaking of the way things were 30yrs. ago. This happened 30yrs. ago and I am not expecting it to be that way today. We never had to worry about tainted candy, razors in apples. It was just plain fun. Today the population has grown and there are people who think it is funny to harm a child. We didn't need our parents to accompany us back then as the kids today must for safety reasons. And as for us travling around and seeing how much candy we could claim, it was just fun and part of memorable experiences as a child. If people ran out of candy or didn't want to give they just turned off the outside light.

I see we have ANOTHER dumba$$ on the blog. I don't live in East Orange, NJ. It's where the IP routing goes through. I live in York County. You know, the same York County where you'll be tooling your snot-nosed little punks around in your minivan hoping to hoard candy in every town.

Little kids on trick or treat night are so cute. It's fun to see them in their little customes. Halloween has become a major holiday season. The stores and people go all out. It's a big money making time for stores and those scarey haunts like Jasons Mill , Field of Screams, etc and the town ghost tours that Gettysburg and other towns put on. Just a lot of fun. Something our country needs right now a time to have some fun and not have to thinnk of the economy and who is running for President. A happy break. Watch for cars and keep your little ones safe trick r treating.. Happy Halloween everyone.

So are these set times the result of ordinances? Why do some communities schedule trick-or-treating on a day that is not Halloween? What happens if kids try to trick-or-treat on a day that is not "scheduled" for it?

It seems very odd to me. I was not "born and raised in PA," but I live there now, and have for several years.
