from the article:
But prosecutor Tim Barker said Seibert's "blurted out" denials show her "telltale heart."

This defense attorney is a jerk. It's one thing to defend your client, but this was about as far from an accident as you can get. She had 3/4 of a mile to get her head out of her you know what. Oh that's right putting crap on your face and texting are far more important than paying attention when driving 69 mph. What a shame, rest in peace Officer Tome.

This woman is getting really bad advice. She needs to plead guilty and throw herself on the mercy of the court. This can only get worse for her and the all the families involved. Do the right thing, accept what you have done and accept responsibility. Spare the Tome family and friends the agony of a trial and spare your own family further humiliation.

If you are looking in your rear view mirror, and not down at your cell phone or something in your car in a downward direction, I would think you would be aware that you had hit something in front of your car. It would be in your line of vision in front of where you were looking. She was really absorbed in something not to notice a thump when she hit him. This gave me chills and made me feel sick in the pit of my stomach. My prayers go out to the officer's loved ones and family.

This whole thing makes me sick, to think that this woman can even have driving privledges after haveing had other traffic violations such as she had. She will be judged far more the day she dies that what we can do here but I sure do hope that our system puts her away so she can't do this to another person. I really get the feeling from reading this article that she does not even think she did anything wrong, and that makes my heart hurt for the family of the police officer.

My prayers go out to the Tome family and all the other officer's that protect and serve our community. I thank you for all that you do. It takes a strong person to become a police officer and it takes a stonger person to be able to marry one. You risk everything for complete strangers and I admire that.

This Seibert women needs to be found guilty and be punished for what she took away. You can't kill someone and get away with it, just like erasing her phone won't change the fact that everyone knows she was on it.

We shouldn't be allowed to defend guilty people. To the defense attorney: how can you lay there at night after you put on the song and dance in court with the lies you say? It wasn't an accident, she was reckless! Time and time again!

Too bad we don't still go with the punishment an eye for an eye. Better yet, let Tome's wife drive an SUV at 69 mph and put Siebert in front of it and see if Tome notices that she hit something.

I apologize to the family and friends of Tome's if I was out of line. I do wish and pray for the very best for all of you.

If it weren't a police man she wouldn't be charged with anything, let her go she didn't do anything wrong. The cop shouldn't be standing around anyway.

that is ridiculous! she killed someone - cop or not - she will be held accountable!! the fact that it was a cop in a bright orange vest with cones to warn drivers strenghtens the arguement that she should have seen him.
Perhaps if it was a hunter, in camo, in the dark, it would be more likely that she did not see.
She should plead guilty - no one is going to believe that she was not reckless.

God Bless David Tome and his family. What their going to go through because of this is pure hell that no innocent family like theirs should have to go through, let alone the innocent babies of Officer Tome. To the family, please know we stand behind you every step of the way with all the support and love we have.

But she did do something wrong, she killed a person, whether it was a cop or not. Officer Tome wasn't standing around in the first place, she was driving in a lane that was closed off to traffic and she did what every other person does, they wait until the last minute to merge on the highway because everyone wants to be first. Plus, she was too busy putting on her makeup and playing with her phone to even notice that she had to merge. Get a grip buddy, she did do something wrong, a life has been lost because this snot nosed "woman" was too absorbed in herself to even realize that the "thing" she killed was a person.

I am still so sorry for Mr. Tome's family. I really hope that this teaches people a lesson- stay off of your cell phone while driving- including texting!!!

Let me first begin by saying how truly sorry I am for the loss of Officer David Tomes' life. Dody, you amaze me every day with your strength and now to have to go through this hell, I am so sorry for yours, Eli's and Joslyn's loss as well as the extended family. I can only begin to know the grief that you have gone through and will continue to be there for you. As far as this woman, I am sorry to say that she deserves everything she can get as far as justice goes. I pray that the justice system will hold her 100% accountable for the death of David. I also pray that the people who have no clue, will be judged on their own accounts. I pray daily for all of the officers that are out there protecting us and that they will be safe and that people will continue to be aware.
Always in our thoughts and prayers.
