I deeply sympathize with the Graniteville chemical disaster victims and wonder if, while lobbying to try to get meager County funds for assistance, do these same Aiken County taxpayers know the County would have plenty of extra funds for the S.O. & other depts. if it bothered assessing certain "privileged" county/city officers fairly on their property. E.g., former County councilman Russ Ferrara is being assessed for his mansion on 8+ acres at $163K, even though smaller/similar homes in the same development (Mallard Hill) are assessed a realistic value of $250-450K, and sales prices have been closer to $500K. How many other corrupt officials are getting special "breaks" in their assessments?(This is all verifiable via the County Assessor's Office website/maps.)

That's not all--his 16-unit apartment complex on Banks Mill Rd. is assessed at only a little over $200K--it should, according to comps, be closer to $500K or more. This man paid someone off. I know county prosecutors have been informed of this probable bribery, but no one ever does anything. Why?

Circuit Court Judge Jack Early has ordered that Ex-Councilman Russ Ferrara be taken off of house arrest as the State’s case against the former Aiken County Councilmen weakens and appears to be falling apart. Apparently false allegations were leveled by a known crack whore who had recently received an eviction and trespassing notice from the Ex-Councilman acting as her landlord at a South Aiken apartment complex. A high-ranking official at the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, who wished to remain unnamed, claimed that the stacked arrest warrants should have never been issued against the Ex-Councilman. Last year several of the initial charges were dropped lacking probable cause. In addition, the Aiken County magistrate who initially placed the Ex-Councilman on house arrest has since been charged with misconduct in office and sexual misconduct. He has been suspended from office. Authorities are further investigating unusual circumstances surrounding this case. The Ex-Councilman’s defense attorneys Andy Anderson and Everett Chandler were not available for comment.

we heard that the alleged victim had been molested by two other men when she was very young: one being her father. She stated that he used to come into her bedroom in the morning at dawn and sexually assualt her. We also heard that she was under counseling when she claimed that the assualt took place. We never believed any of this was true!

these charges should have never been made against this man. we heard this women had five men in her apartment one night doing drugs and that the sheriff's office were had made numerous responses to her residence. Also, we heard that she had been convicted for criminal domestic violence after stabbing her boyfriend with a butcher knife in the chest. Clearly, this was a politically motivated arrest without probable cause.

It was disclosed that the thirteen year old alleged victim who accused Ex-Councilman Russ Ferrara of inappropriate touching was undergoing sexual abuse counseling at the time of the alleged incident and had previously accused at least two other men of sexual abuse: one being her father. Earlier the alleged victim claimed that her father would enter her bedroom each morning at dawn and sexually assault her. Authorities were aware of these allegations which were much more severe than the allegation lodged against the Ex-Councilman, but elected not to arrest the alleged victim’s father. Authorities were also aware of the family’s attempt to obtain money from the Ex-Councilman to assist in release of the alleged victim’s sister from the Aiken County Detention Center.

the women who was being evicted had a rap sheet with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office that includes a conviction for criminal domestic violence for stabbing her boyfriend in the chest with a butcher knife. these false allegations were not made against this man until he issued the trespassing notice and eviction action against the alleged victim.

Since there's no statue of limitations for criminal sexual conduct with a minor, why have authorities failed to arrest the alleged victim's father?

we knew that the Ex-Councilman was innocent of these allegations. He was one of the best representatives we had on the Aiken County Council and was always very responsive to our needs. This was just a political setup, attempt to get money, and ruin his political reputation.

the women you're talking about is Kari Driggers and we think she's crazy and bipolar. it's hard to believe that the cops even took her story seriously. she has a history of claiming to be attacked by almost all of her past boyfriends. Just prior to this incident, she called the cops on her boyfriend, Chad Black, several times for beating her up. He got 12 years for burglary after breaking into another apartment early in the morning in the same apartment complex/building where a 30 year old single women lived with her young son.

Maybe another case of false arrest in Aiken?
