Teens charged in vandalisms

Five teenagers have been linked to a number of recent vandalisms in the City of Aiken, including spray painting a dozen or more profanities at South Aiken High School last month during a teacher furlough day.

We can only hope this will inspire the other two to change their ways lest they become infamous too. I hope the three older bad actors who were jailed suffer ample indignities as a good eduction of what it could be like if they continue this obnoxious behavior. The lot have caused much damage and the oldest and the parents of the minors should pay every penny of the cost to undo the damage.

As for those who think they should be treated better, that they deserve another chance, this may be just the first time they were caught! There is no excuse for this stuff. Time for 'peer pressure' to be discounted as a valid excuse for aberrant behavior. You damage it, you pay restitution AND some jail time.

July 25, Pat Lee Gilliland III, 22, of Daphne was arrested and charged with simple assault/domestic violence. The arrest was made on Lawson Road.
