The first thing that needs to be done is to get the cat out of the house they're currently living in. This is what happens with hoarders.

I am just amazed once again how crule and stupid people can be. All things aside at the very least they could of left a door open when walked away from that pit of suffering they had called a home. Not really best for the community but, my lord, to die like that? She saes ha she firstt thought they where dying due to fleas. What BS you know if your feeding or not come on! "They where like her childern."... oh, I can't even believe that she said that. Bad enough that they where lost for answers when they ran out of money to feed the cats and dogs (its not that hard to figger out what to do) Who with any brain doesn't know to bury the dead ? This woman is not in her right mind. Okay, she was and is very ill but really? She's well enough to give her side of the story to the press. I will not comment on the 36 year old son since I don't know what his state of mind is, and there wasn't a comment from him. I'm sickened by the whole thing.

We live just down the block from this house of horrors...had no idea what was happening. Can't smell it from here. I've heard that this woman often shopped in local stores here and "stunk" but could always buy what SHE needed to eat. Egads, did she and her son eat off a feces covered table? Everyone has a set of problems...they seek some help. Walking over dead little bodies is insane (not an excuse, though). Neighbors have said she would slam door in their faces when they tried to go there to check out the smell. They may have helped if she had talked to even one of them, I'm sure. Who wants to live next door to something smelly like that? They just probably thought they were filthy people and liked it that way. Can't even say how deplorable this situation is. We have no sympathy for anyone who is so heartless and ignorant to not reach out. They could've stood outside the grocery and given out free cats to people at the very least!! There are animal lovers everywhere. Find them. Meanwhile - TAKE THAT CAT OUT OF THEIR HOUSE NOW. If they can't feed their pets, they can't feed one, either. Isn't that what she said? They ran out of money? Next thing we'll hear is that they will probably EAT the one they've got to survive!! Wouldn't doubt it. They should also make her PROVE her story of needing medical treatments for anything. Prove that she's a liar, too! What doctor would even treat her smelling the way she does? The smell of death is probably the same for people and animals...it would arouse some suspician. Neither she or her son should escape severe legal repercussions for their neglegance. They need to take full responsibility and never own animals ever again!!! The law needs to be more severe and definitely BE ENFORCED. How and why did they get so many critters in the first place? Good question?

Can you send a link to KOMO? I'm glad they took the new animals away from her.

We just had a similar thing occur here in northern Illinois. 32 charges of felony animal abuse for a woman who claimed to be running a rescue, yet let the animals starve to death while confined in cages. They didn't even have the option of drinking water from a toilet. They were locked up.
