We live within a block of there and heard the crash - it sounded horrendous and I was shocked to hear it was only one car.

I don't know anything other than I didn't sleep well at all after hearing that awful sound and the ensuing sirens.

Hope whomever was involved is going to be okay...

It was just on channel 2 news. A car hit the billboard pole near o'Brian tire. Driver has a head injury and is in serious condition.

Please be respectful - there was no reason to put his name down or to make statements that can very well be seen by family and close friends. He is in critical condition and no one else was hurt so how about just saying a prayer for him and his family.

@ family of Roy---This thread will most likely get worse if Roy isn't holier than Mother Theresa. The thread can be deleted by clicking on "send us your feedback" located below the comments box. However new threads may be started if this one is deleted. I wish Roy and his family the best for a speedy and healthy recovery.

Geee, it sure sounds like Mr Hogan was overserved at Whiskey Jake's. I have heard of a lot of people saying how trashed they have gotten when they have gone there. I'm not from here and not familiar with local laws but in Cali, Vegas and Texas where I have lived there are State mandated alcohol server training certification courses. These must be completed before a person can manage a bar or bartend at a bar in order to learn how to responsibly serve alcohol. Are these required here?
I wonder

How old is Roy? Is he a big spender? Is he hot? If so, you can be sure that the drink-pouring girls were buying him shots and doing them with him. It happens all the time. People who are special friends with the girls leave there knee-walking drunk all the time after partying with the drink-pouring girls.

I refuse to call them bartenders because that's an insult to knowledgable, professional, skilled bartenders who are far too responsible to ever so stupidly put their customers and other drivers on the roads in such deadly danger.

Shut up!!!!! If a bartender cut off every person off that had more than 3 drinks no one would go to the bar. What bar in this world do you know that cuts anyone off who looks a little drunk? You don't have to be completely smashed to crash.

**********That guy should have known better than to drive after too many.*********

You're an idiot to blame anyone but the driver!!!!
After the customer has had too many drinks is the wrong time for him to be put in the position of deciding whether or not he should drive!! Bartending 101. Maybe you should re-evaluate who the idiots are in this situation.

Instead of crashing into a pole he could have crashed into a car full of people. Or Worse. He could have crashed into the parking lot at Midwest Petroleum and struck pedestrians, gas pumps, cars with people in them with kids....and it was all comepletely preventable, if someone wasn't uneducated, irresponsible, unprofessional, greedy and just didn't give a shit.

You are an idiot! It is no ones fault but his own. He is a grown man and should have known better than to get behind the wheel after too many drinks. A bartender cannot possibly ask everyone if they are driving, walk outside to see if they're telling the truth, or force a drunk into a cab. I am very sorry for this man an his family and I hope for a quick recovery, but no one can blame the bar that he got behind the wheel.
Who's the idiot?

Yes, bars and bartenders CAN be liable for someone getting into an accident leaving their establishment...it IS a BARTENDERS responsibility to cut someone off before they become a threat to themselves or others. Although a lot of times it's hard to prove just how intoxicated they were when they left your establishment. I took a ALBA certification class not too long ago
