from what I understand is that SNAP benefits may include cash assistance and food stamps. In this case, all that benefit goes on one Link card and yes, can be used to buy anything!

I called Curleys in Mitchell to order a pizza. They asked me if it was gonna be cash or link OVER THE PHONE!

If you have no source of income you get cash benefits on the card, which you can use to buy cigarettes, alcohol, and even get cash back. Ridiculous, right? I believe what I heard a while back was that some fast food places were going to start allowing elderly and/or handicapped to use it only.

This is true as the Democratic party continue its policies of trickle up poverty upon all of us starting from the center of sinkhole Granite City.

Wow, that's sad. Link card when having cash assistance should be used to buy diapers, pay bills, buy essentials, not fast food. Even if someone gets food stamps, if they made it possible to buy fast food, that would be such a huge mistake. I just don't get it it *shakes head*

The sad thing is all of you look down on people who use a link card... shame on you. Not EVERYONE who has it takes advantage of it. I had a well paying job for almost 20 years and got laid off. Im a single mother with only unemployment as income right now so i have no other choice until I find employment. But with that being said, i would never use it to buy fast food, even if it was allowed. Im embarrassed just to use it at the store.

There are stores that will let you get cigs and beer using foodstamps. Not the cash part. Pop docs was a big offender along with curlies and that store on 24 street. I have witnessed that stores employees send people to get stuff off link and then give them pot in exchange.

LINK/SNAP benefits are currently only legally intended for the purchase of edible groceries, not for already prepared food items such as fried chicken, birthday cakes, fast food, fountain soda (& cigarettes or alcohol). Cash assistance is not available widely for anyone with no income. This is actually a very limited benefit.
It infuriates me when I see people buy all this food with their LINK card and then watch them pop $40 into the LOTTO machine on their way out the door...

The link card and snap program are just more of the wonderful benefits showered upon the entitlement classes by the democrats to insure that they continue to get the votes of these leeches. Naturally of course Granite City, having utilized unions to run away all the employers is now rock solidly entitlement class just as East St Louis is. Face color is the only difference because it isn't the smell...they both smell the same

There is a lot of people like that now. I can see how they can get away with it, butwhy spend 15 bucks on a frozen pizza, when you can go buy 4 or 5 for the same amount at the grocery store. People just don't think. My gma used to own popdocks back in the day, they didn't do that then.

just ask the worthless moms with no jobs, live with mommy, and go out drinking all the time. they all want to run & hit up the fast food to feed their kids instead of actually feeding them. And definatly wouldn't know what in the heck to do if she had to take her drinking/going out money to the grocery store...

I was once in a Save a-lot in Belleville and this guy was in front of me at the check-out lane. He said " Mam let me pay for your items with this. And, you can give me the money when we walk out of the store" it was a blue card and had Lenk on the front of it. I am handicapped with a neurological disorder and I walk funny it's obvious I could be a good target for a thug at first glance. I am also really tiny too but I carry a big red thing of whoop-ass spray and I held my spray up and I said "No! if you bother me again I will blind you with this and call the police." He acted like I had sprayed him and he walked away with his tail between his legs. I got to the register and then I reported him. We all need to stand up and do what is right. If you see someone abusing the system report them. The more people stand up and do what is right the more these thugs will be running with their tails between their legs. I thought Lenk cards where just for mothers with babies/kids that needed help. I never thought just anyone could get one. I am handicapped and never dreamed of having one. I leave that to the Mothers and their babies/kids. Disability is enough for me I have a room mate that helps me do things we split the cost of the rent on a 2 bedroom house and do just fine. Mothers and babies/kids need that Lenk not anyone else I think.
