This conversation (closing Niedringhaus and moving 5th to Grigsby and 7th to Coolidge) has been going on since October or earlier. Renovation costs of Niedringhaus is the biggest concern. There was also talk of moving the District #9 offices to Niedringhaus and selling the property at 20th & Adams.

The kid wasnt lying. I heard from multiple students that their teachers and the cafeteria personnel was telling them this before ANY parents knew anything. Unbelievable.

And I never said Why's child was lying and he/she knows that. Dont try starting an argument. The board has NOT approved the proposal to close Niedringhaus and redistrict the other buildings. If they had there would be no need for an informational meeting next week. If it were a done deal there would be no need for parental input. This is not a done deal! The board has not voted on this proposal! Until parents affected by the proposal are notified, the deal is not done. Jeez!!!!!!!!

There is going to be no 'parental input' this isnt an intervention genius. They are sugar coating things to keep parents from freaking out. Yes it is a done deal. Mark my words. It isnt going to matter what parents think. Oh thats right.it worked out pretty well with the whole uniform situation because that mafe such a big difference what parents thought. Naive.

No need to be rude. What makes you so sure that this is a done deal? Where or should I ask from whom does your confirmation come?

So you work for the board office? Or you work at Niedringhaus? Either way,if you are dissiminating information without the districts approval, you may find yourself in the position of losing your job.

Besides what am i saying diff than what everyone has been saying all along lol..not me, not to mention wasn't the one telling YOUR children about it to begin with. That is wrong. You didn't even know about it until 'employees' were running their mouths. Anyways good luck with everything...

CANDYCANE....why all the anger and hostility? If you don't care why bother saying anything? If you are angry that students (I'll defer to you Why) were told that this was a done deal or that they may have overheard adults talking why not address the building principal? Or address the board office. If you dont care about losing your job why not resign and let someone who would appreciate being employed have it? Why not take the anger and turn it into a positive. If you work in the building, use that energy to help students adjust to the possibility that they may be moving to another building and other friends. Do something constructive.

Candy is right. The board members already know what they are going to do, regardless what the parents have to say. I have been hearing about this for over a year now. It has been in the works for longer than any of us parents know. I am sure they have done their research on pros & cons, what affect it will have on the other elementary schools, and crunched numbers, etc. They are letting the parents "bring their concerns" about to try and pretend what parents say matters to them. It will not have any weight on their voting. For those who thinks this is not a done deal must not have any idea of how Granite City works. Decisions are made, concerns of the citizens are invited, and, in the end, those concerns don't matter. Their minds are made up before it's brought public. I am putting my faith in they are doing what is best for the district and the kids.

Lol i have no anger issues. I was simply trying to speak my mind hellooo! this is a forum. I was not doing anything diff than anyone else has on this subject. You chose to take it do a diff level and accuse me of making things up I guess. I tried to inform you that there has already been a decision made and you refused to believe it and therefore try and bash me. Of course I love the kids, as far as the job is concerned I can go anywhere...I had other plans anyways when I was aware of this situation. Which I have known or a few mos now btw...The way things are going who knows what lies in the future. I did not get in this job obviously for the $, its for the children. I was not trying to start drama on here etc nor cause problems. Everything in the end is going to be alright, yes people are getting hostile and concerned. Its going to be difficult getting this up and running but it will happen. These things happen everywhere all the time. I am not concerned whatsoever. There is no point in doing so this has been coming for a loooong time. I was not at all surprised to hear this. Like I said Ive been there for awhile an have always heard rumors. It is what it is. I tried shedding some light and then I get accused of not showing class etc, and I did not do anything diff than anyone else has on here. It is unfortunate that people feel like they need to start an argument on a forum instead of just doing what a forum is made for, sharing thoughts, opinions, ideas & facts. Do as you please like I said this was coming.

And this is true. They are doing what they believe is best. Its hard to get everyone to agree with everything, it will all work out....

They can pump money in to pay administrators and fix up the High School, but they can't find the money to keep this school running? Sounds like a crock to me.I'm a concerned parent that has a child there.Yes I'm worried where she will go next year.Time for District 9 to get their act together,
