Im in quite a situation. Long story short, I got f**ked by them. Ive only had my car a little over a year, and only after a month, the brake lines needed replaced, they were rusted out. I had to pay for a tow and they financed the repairs. A few months later, it happened again, but in a different spot. Another tow and financed repairs. The car is making awful noises, the alternator is going out, brakes are failing. I do not feel safe in this car, and Im still paying $175 every other week.

Well on my way to pay my payment today, I was doing about 40mph and accelerating and the whole car jumped like it slipped or something. This car is desperate need of more repairs. Well instead of making more repairs and more pmts, I called finance and asked them if they can put me in another car. They said, only if my balance was 1500. I even offered to start my contract over for a lesser car. I pretty much begged them to help me. NOT..well,

Im considering not making my payment. And,I know it will get repoed. My question is, they said they will auction it off, and get what money they can out of it, and Im responsible for the balance. Will they garnish my wages? I know it goes on credit rating. Anyone else have experience with this company or have any advice?

Yes they will repo your car, yes it will effect your credit. Will they garnish your wages? The state of IL is a garnishable state, it really depends on what amount they get out of the car. Say you owe 4g and they get 3g. you will owe them a grand, and if they deem it necessary to garnish ( this depends on your income, if they feel like they can win) you will be responsible for the court fees and any interest and fees they have in that contract. Have you taken the car there and ask them to use it as a trade in? If you make around the 10 a hour range, garnish you I really doubt it. Good luck.

I asked them today about trading me out of this crap car and putting me in even a lesser value car. Just anything to keep me working. She said, i cant refinance until the balance is 1500. No where near that. Im not concerned about the credit thing, or that I wont have a car, its the whold garnishing my wages. Thanks for the advice

So you go buy a cheap used car and you expect it to be like a new one.
Want a new car go buy one and pay the price
Go pay a few grand and expect it to be a piece of junk
Get real

@icu, Your comment doesnt make sense. If you read what i wrote earlier, I am paying double what the blue book is. I EXPECT to pay payments on a car that doesnt constantly have something going wrong with it and I have to pay for the tow and the repairs. Im scared to drive it that its going to break down or blow up.There is no warranty.

They take advantage of people who cant get financed through a bank and have poor credit(due to medical bills)I think that Im paying like 12grand for a car that has blue book of 6grand. My payment every other week is 175 should be 150. So add that up!

My payment is legally late as of 9pm. They can have the piece of s**t, and I'll deal with what happens later.

Technically in the state of IL, they have to notify you of the attempt to collect first. They are required to give you "Sufficient" time to do something. Suffient is determined by them. Could be 12:01, never know.
ICU your a jack ass. Sometimes bad credit isnt a choice, as you seen (if in fact you read) that persons been a victim of medical bills. Unfortunatly these days they do hold them against you.
Slow pay reports just as bad as no pay, sometimes we just dont understand. I for one, make an effort to help and assist anyone who is trying.

If you do not pay your bills on time you are a bad risk. People that are bad risks pay more for things on credit because they are risky to lend to.
Lenders want people that pay their bills and dont have to go through the perils of debt collection
You can reach into your pocket and bail the person out bill collector. IF you do not like the system perhaps you should get a job doing something different

I assume ICU is perfect. That is just wonderful, I am so glad that you or none of your family or friends have ever been effected by medical expenses that have presented as a financial hardship. I feel sorry for anyone around you, you are so judgemental and assume the worst of someone. You do not know that persons situation. Remember this ICU, Karma is a bitch. Hope and pray you are always able to work, as well as all of your friends and family too.
If I was in the financial situation to help many of the struggling families out there, you can bet your sweet ass I would.
My point is simple, some "collectors" are not out to get you. Some collectors do their jobs well, they try to do what benefits their company and their customer. I wish I knew you and you had a problem with my company, trust me your ass wouldnt get a day without added charges and anything else I could think up legal.
BTW did I mention your a ass??
LOVE- The collector with a heart!

I dont get behind because I live within my means. By doing so I am not paying twice what blue book for a car is, paying exorbitant finance charges or putting up with the likes of bill collectors. By living this way I can enjoy a much better standard of living in the long run even if it means giving up a few things today. That is how one gets a head in life; sacrificing today for a better tomorrow. perhaps your customers should try it sometime, then they would not be dealing with you

Living within your means? What does that mean? With your parents? I think as usual you missed the whole point. Some people do not choose a situation. You didnt answer my question, you dont know anyone that got sick, or lost a job? If not well lucky you. I see it everyday and I can sleep at night knowing what I do, I do with compassion and understanding.
BTW one day that 1980 Vega will wear out and perhaps you too may have to BUY something that doesnt allow you such a luxery lifestyle.
again, your an ass.

When ICU says he lives within his means he means he is living with mommy and daddy at this point in his life. No rent, no utilities, no food bills. Just a used car loan. Yeah he's the next Bill Gates alright.

As a collector, I have seen people loose their jobs to take care of dying children and family. I have seen people have to sell things to make ends meet when the expenses get overwhelming when insurance cant cover the cost.

We have medicaid to cover that. Illinois in fact has such a great medicaid program it has helped to bankrupt the state.
Nice try, but no cigar for you on this one

Thanks but I do not smoke. I have been doing this for well over 20 years. You must know more about Medicaid than I do, as I know people who have assets do not qualify for such. Medicaid can only be used a secondary( simple terms for you- after insurance) in the event you qualify with your income, and most cases a WORKING person does not qualify.A working person cannot qualify if they make at least minimum wage, and or have a butt load of dam dependents. Go eat your Quiktrip cheeseburger we bought you on Link, and find a subject to argue with me on I am know nothing about. Dam I wish I knew your real name, I would make a call or two and accidently watch your car get repo'd. How many payments you got left on that 1980 Rabbit anyway??
