I'm not saying for or against but I did have an ob doc say it was great for relieving morning sickness. This was after I admitted that I was a smoker prior to my pregnancy.

why would you expose your baby to any unnecessary chemicals?

Actually most doctors will tell you it helps with morning sickness. And I know a few people who have done it with one pregnancy and not another and the baby they smoked with is a lot calmer. I don't think it's harmful. Not suggesting people start smoking while pregnant, but if they do it, it's not the worst. Cigarettes cause more harm than weed.

They don't say it's healthy. Nor do they say it's unhealthy. They just suggest it could help with morning sickness. Just depends on how well you know and trust your OB. I had an gyn I went to for years and when I was pregnant he suggested it. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's not true. But go on with your self righteous bullspit. Draino and Arsenic are poisons... Weed is a plant. Get over it.

I have worked for MANY doctors and I know for a FACT they would NOT tell you that! They are to busy pushing the latest legal drug down your throat because thats what the pharmacuetical company pays them for! Not to mention we live in one of the most sue happy counties in the NATION! That is why so many of our GOOD doctors leave, the malpractice insurance is astronomical. The only people I know that smoked while pregnant had the FUSSIEST babies EVER! When your baby goes to school and ends up in special ed you will only have yourself to blame for killing their brain cells before they were even born.

Just because you don't think the doctor would doesn't mean anything. My doctor at Anderson hospital, I won't name him, is the first one to tell me that smoking weed helps ease morning sickness because nothing else was helping. I know someone who smoked with her first two pregnancies. Both straight A, honor roll students. She didn't smoke with her last baby. He's now 8 and has ADHD. Get over it, just because it's your personal belief doesn't mean your correct.

Animal research suggests that the body's endocannabinoid system plays a role in the control of brain maturation, particularly in the development of emotional responses. It is conceivable that even low concentrations of THC, when administered during the perinatal period, could have profound and long-lasting consequences for both brain and behavior.16 Research has shown that some babies born to women who used marijuana during their pregnancies display altered responses to visual stimuli, increased tremulousness, and a high-pitched cry, which could indicate problems with neurological development. In school, marijuana-exposed children are more likely to show gaps in problem solving skills, memory, and the ability to remain attentive

I worked for an ob/gyn for 4 yrs. Of course, this was 10 years ago. And yes, he said it helped w/morning sickness and insomnia, but it wasnt something he openly told all the patients. But he did tell a few in my 4 yrs there.

he told that to pot heads he knew were not going to stop anyways... if you are going to smoke it, then might as well do it at times that give u some benifit

i could see using it as a aleternative for morning sickness medication if you are already a pot smoker to begin with

but anyone with common f*ing sense can see that stopping and not taking any medication at all is the best option

if I were a woman, I would do that... but i actually have will power

THANK YOU! They don't tell everyone, but they do tell a few patients they feel safe telling it to.

I don't ever talk about this but I've been a daily smoker for about 15 years n have been smoking for about 40 yrs total. When I was preggin I had all freaking day sickness. Smoking did calm my sickness but I always felt guilty about it. Everytime I went to the doc n they would want a urine specimen I would always worry that they would take my baby at birth due to me smoking. Then one day I went to the doc n I was about 6months along. They wanted to draw my blood n I told my doc that I smoked. He said they wasn't testing for drug but also said it probably heled the sickness but in no way was he saying that it was ok to do it. He said the fact that I came to all my doc visits & was healthy, clean appearance & gaining weight like crazy that he had no reason to think I needed tested for drugs. 67

You are dosing another human being with drugs without their consent. That is morally wrong any way you slice it. It would be like someone slipping you a bunch of LSD and PCP without your knowledge and all of a sudden you were losing your mind and didn't know why. A fetus can't consent to you getting them high. You should never do that.

Any doctor who would say it's OK to smoke weed while pregnant is out of their freaking mind. ALL of the medical literature proves beyond a shadow of a doubt it leads to low birth weights, memory and attention problems.

If a doctor told someone it was OK to smoke and then they had a messed up kid he would be liable for millions upon millions in a lawsuit. No doctor with any sense would say something that stupid.

The medical literature is not in question. Marijuana is harmful to developing embryos and fetuses. You might be able to get away with it, but we are talking about a human life. If the baby does develop mental problems both of you will have to live with the consequences of your mistake for the next 70 years. Why would you be so selfish as to take that risk?

You cant not smoke weed for 9 months? If you dont have enough discipline to refrain from weed for that short amount of time you are going have a hard time being a mother.

Seems to me that if you are thinking about having a kid or in the process it's time to give up on partying for a while and focus on what is important.

Look up more studies. Better yet, LEGIT studies, not just some bullshit people post because it's their opinion. Marijuana does not cause low birth weight or memory problems. This forum isn't worth posting in. Ya'll have your heads stuck too far up your arses to accept something you don't like or agree with.

I want to point out that I smoked daily during all pregnancies in the morning for nausea and yes my ob from Anderson recommended this for me to. However my children are now doing great in school one is straight A's and others are B averages all excel in anything that they try, other then that pretty normal children who are very intelligent and loved more than they could ever ask for.

If you have worked for "many doctors", then you would know that they are not paid by pharmaceutical companies... Liar.
