I find it sad that someone can kidnap a child and keep them hidden for years in their back yard..No one even bothered to notice she was there.. I think neighbors really need to make more of an effort to know their neighbors.. Every one let this child down shame on you all!

This is becoming ridiculous. The "victim" was working and could have escape any time she wanted, but choose not to. This, a la Utah girl, shouldn't be portrait as a victim, when even the label doesn't fit. Just like pedophile, those "victims" want just money and not just thousands, but millions and if billions, the more the merrier. There is no such thing as utopia, perfection and people are prone to mistakes here and in South Egypt. This stupidity of giving away taxpayers money for trivial reasons makes no sense. Where are the tea partiers when you needed them, but by their actions you will know them and since a black person is not in charge in this case, then they don't see the reason for becoming unhinged. Stop this crazy, wasteful world. I want to get off!

how do you know the victim got have gotten away? Were you there? Please do yourself a favor, and don't judge, unless you know the complete story. If you want to get off, then again, do yourself a favor, and blow your brains out. No body will miss a person that's cold hearted, mean, cruel, your just about as bad as the kipnappers! Have a wonderful day!

I must agree with Emile Zola. Someone wouldn't have to actually be there to know that she could have gotten away. She had many chances to get away. Common sense will tell you that. She wants to write a book, have a movie made and all that.

What happened to her was terrible. But the state paying her $20 million - that's ridiculous.

She was a CHILD!!! Who knows what threats, etc. were made to her family. A child can be influenced, and they were evil people. By the time she was old enough to know what she should/could do, she may have been so brainwashed and confused that she didn't realize what she had "wasn't normal". Sooooo sad!
20 million though? Not sure about that one.
