EDH is a pretty town and growing fast. the schools are good up to the high school but then it stops. the high school is very focused on sports and not so much academics. when we first moved up here from the bay area we were looking to buy in EDH. the realtor suggested leasing for at least a year to see if we would even like. the best advice we have ever gotten. we hated it. it is a very snobby town. but like i said it is pretty. we really like shingle springs, cameron park and rescue

EDH is a very affluent area - lots of nice homes, nice cars. I do agree it's a bit on the snobby side. The area is growing like crazy; traffic is becoming an issue as they seem to be experiencing some growing pains.
As far as schools go, you may want to consider going on town over down the hill in Folsom. Excellent schools, affluent area, low crime. They are almost built out but may be expanding south of 50.
You may want to check out myfolsom.com for more info on Folsom.

I moved to EDH in February from Las Vegas and thank God I signed a 5 month lease. I absolutely LOVED the scenery, the hills etc but like others I couldn't stand the snobs. You'd think it was Beverly Hills. Also everything there is super, super expensive. Save your money and move somewhere more reasonable.

You all can say what you would like, but I live in El Dorado Hills and love every minute of it. Yes, i have seen and heard of horrible things here, but where doesnt that happen? Just be realistic and put yourselves above all the stereotypes here. It honestly is not hard at all. Screw all the snobbs, and be the resident that makes EDH better. I surround myself with level headed people so I am guessing that those who didn't like Eldo did not know how to do that. The highschool is amazing and sends those kids to Harvard, Cal, Stanford, and every top school around. Try saying all that about a lot of other areas...

Why so much negativity on this site? Get a life and move on from this great place if you hate it so much. EDH is a beautiful community with the best schools around, some wonderful churches, low crime rates, families everywhere, endless activities for kids, good restaurants, great musical theatre, and some super-friendly people. Should I go on? The people who contaminate this site with their dark view of the world need some help.

To the sad folks who complained of snobs? Are you serious? Do you think that there aren't "snobs" everywhere you go or live? You mean, in the amount of time you've been here, you've been unable to meet friendly, down to earth people?

My husband and I have lived in El Dorado Hills / Serrano since 2003. We are transplants from Silicon Valley / Bay Area. We absolutely love it here in Serrano and could never imagine moving back to the Bay Area. Most residents are welcoming and friendly and the crime rate is low. By the way, the street we live on in Serrano is very multi-cultural and there is nothing racist about it at all. Don't believe all of the negative comments you hear since there are many happy residents like myself.

But most of the population, with the exception of a few, can string words together in a coherent sentence.

I live in Cameron Park which is right past El Dorado Hills. I really like my neighborhood. The trees are all mature and the lots are large. Many of the homes do need some updating though as they were built in the 70's. We generally do our shopping and dining in El Dorado Hills, and I think it would be a great place to live. There are walking trails all throughout El Dorado Hills, and there are a few restaurants, a spa, health club, movie theater. Folsom is just one freeway exit away, and while I like Folsom, it has become a bit of a sprawl with development. I spend a lot of time in Folsom, and there is going to be a mall right off the next freeway exit, tons of restaurants, shopping, health clubs, a college, I just think EDH is a much nicer place to live because you feel like you are just a little further up the hill away from all of the craziness. Some of the neighborhoods in EDH are really nice, but you are going to pay $2000 a year in HOA's. I have heard that Serrano is really strict about garbage cans being left out on the street after a certain time and what you can plant. When I was reading reviews about some of the new energy efficient homes being built, a lot of the folks who live in EDH seemed pretty snobby with their comments about living on the side of the freeway with the businesses. As far as I'm concerned, that is their issue. There really are stuck up people everywhere, but there do seem to be a few more who are more image conscious and snobby in EDH. I don't think that is a strong enough deterrent to prevent people from considering the area as a great place to live though.

give it a few years and EDH will be infested with muslim dune coons just like Folsom, and eventally the black plague will move in and destroy EDH like it has to every other community.

We moved to ELD Dorado Hills two years ago. We looked at buying a home in Serrano. My husband wanted a 2500 sq ft home that was new. I felt it was a little to sterile and I didn't want a house with Mello Roos or HOAS. We found another home that is about 15 years old and is close to 2000 sq ft, without any of the problems that Serrano has. Be careful if you plan to buy in Serrano we have friends that live there and the builders took short cuts in the building of some of these homes. If you do decide to buy talk to the people who live there. To see if they have problems with their homes. It's not just Serrano. Check any place you decide to buy a new home some of the builders aren't very good.

We found that some of the people at snooty and we avoid them.

My family moved to El Dorado Hills Serrano from Elk Grove almost 10 years ago. I could not say enough good things about it. I could not imagine living anywhere else. We have 5 children and this community has been the best. I have kids from Elementary to High School and the schools are are great. I do not understand all of the negative comments. My experience has been that people are very friendly.. No racism has been experienced here. We are white and I would agree that there are not many blacks here. My kids have been friends with some of the few black kids at the schools and I have not heard of any racist remarks or problems. From my experience they are treated just like any other kid at the schools. The area is still some what like a small town. Town Center is the Bomb with great restaurants and community events. Don't believe the negative comments it just is not true. It is an affluent area but that does not make people snobs. Snobs are in every community. Ignore them and show them pity. I would live in El Dorado Hills over Folsom, Cameron Park, Placerville or any where else. It Is The Best !!!!!!!!!!

Ive lived in Rancho Cordova, EDH, CP, and Folsom all my life.. Ive known people from all over the world. I dont like it here.. The people are reasonable when pressed, but one may not realize that the stretch of towns along HW50 from Folsom up through Placerville and Pollock Pines and into Tahoe have a quality of retirement and retreat about them.. Most of the residents seem to retire into their mind in a really unique way.. It is something you wont find anywhere else and actually causes problems in relationship with people outside that bubble.. Although feels great for the ones in it. EDH and Folsom are NOT places you want to live if you want a normal/practical/reasonable life.. you will be attacked by fascist jerks with all kind of conflicts which come from non-understanding of others. As far as Rancho and Sac... Very depressing now.. The whole stretch of town from tahoe to sac really has sucked severely since around 1998 if not before. There just arent normal people around here.

About the snootiness: It is a social problems and as such is widespread/demographic. You can walk through a city and find 1 out of 100 with snootiness, you can walk through EDH and find the contrary.. it is definetly there.. just hard to measure as it is a social problem and not an individual one.. its sort of like measureing how ghetto an area is.

Administrators treat and talk to you as if you are a kid. They point fingers. They talk down to you. They are very mean and rude! They are stalkers!
