Planning Commission forwards controversial Town Square deal

An agreement with the company behind the Town Square development will go to City Council for approval, despite an outcry from residents and planning commissioners who said the city got the raw end of the deal.

Darcy McNaboe must have a direct link to the cosmos or channeling somebody because she voted to approve an 18 year - no fee Agreement with Jacobsen. Either she doesn't get that the City has been crying "we need mone" for the life of the City, or she is working for the Developer too. Mr. Commstock also voted to agree he said because he is a develper and he felt for Jacobsen. Not a good reason. Who doe these people represent, the citizens of Grand Terrace, or the Developer?

Most of Grand Terrace drives to Redlands to shop at the 'nice' stores as it is, most of them drive down our little hill to shop at the 'nice' Staters.... Why are these people trying so hard to make this town any nicer when its obvious the trailer trash folks that live here DONT WANT IT TO BE ANY NICER? I sat eff Grand Terrace and all our cry babies, they would just trash up a nice new store in no time anyways!

This town should NOT encourage business development. Lets follow Colton's lead and not give into big business. They held ground on CostCo, wait, oh yeah CostCo picked up and left! They continually worked AGAINST the Snow family and subsequently the Moss Group, oh wait, now they dont have a car dealership in town anymore either... Yeah business is bad for a town with all that revenue and stuff...

Lets not forget how the Gramps folks warned us about bringing business into Grand Terrace now, they said if we have any big chain type stores here it would just encourage a bunch of dayworkers, illegals as they call 'em, to hang out in our town... raising the crime rate, lowering property values even more...
After all, every big store I see in other cities has nothing but 'dayworkers' hanging out front...

Dear TerraceTina and Randy Blue Mtn:

Development Fees shouls be waived for everyone or no one.

The issue of day laborors was with in regards to the idea of putting a Lowes or Home Depot in that development and yes they are in fact locaded with day labor folks looking for jobs This is not what should be right next to housing or near a Elm School Most of GT agreed with that.

The economics of putting an additional Drug store does not sound like a good idea to most residents, there just isn't the demand for another one. The one we have is struggling and when the Larger Staters arrives it is likely going to close.

Pretend all you like your way off the track. Colton Played the Game , gave away the free bees and then other towns offered Costco a better deal after their Development Agreement Expired and so they wen shopping for a new deal in the next town.

The Auto Dealers were shut down by the economy not the City of Colton. That and a sand fly.

You want to see RDA at work. Look at the empty old K-Mart Building and Colton Crossings that still has never been fully occupied. Businesses left because the owners were raising the rents above the break even point for the businesses.Not because of something the City of Colton did.

THe folly of Removing Fronteer Town and the buildings along Valley Bulivard when the replacements were not on the drawing board with a Development Agreement with a Must Build by Date.with lossed taxes being recovered if the property remained inactive for longer than 6 months.

The idea that raising property values makes it easier for a business to operate in your community is a false one. It only makes it harder when fees are high on some and waived for others rather than collected at a lower rate forall..

You must be shocked Walt is not Anti Business. He tried to add just a little , very little ballance to the Development Agreement, and it was so small both Jacobsen and Staters had agreed to it.

Were it just that black and white it would be easier to agree with you Gramps. To simply state the current drugstore is struggling discounts the real reasons, its not always just economics. The pharmacy counter at our local drugstore sucks, plain and simple. Even with a full staff the wait is horrible and attention to customer service atrocious. Most folks like myself that need many prescriptions that I know of have gone back to their original pharmacy's in Loma Linda etc. To say that Staters will close them is unfair to Staters but that's why you say it.
We all know how much you fear the horrible (mostly immigrant) day laborers, and of course its nothing to do with any blatant racism on the behalf of Gramps. To imply that simply building a hardware store will bring throngs of folks looking for work is downright antagonistic. Why would anyone looking for work stand in front of a store, any store in Grand Terrace? Riverside, San Bernardino? Perhaps but I cant see the huge need for temp workers here in our little slice of real estate. Again, the fear of those awful people loitering around our helpless town was the point.
There is no shock felt because Walt is not the pro business warrior you paint him to be, but that's another discussion. He is only what you and the Grandpa Terrorist organization allow, instruct and prop him up to be. He cuts meat, makes sandwiches and beyond that relies on the advise of others for his political identity. Its the others I got me a problem with. I'm just saying.
