I went from Irons to Manistee on Saturday and then to Cadillac and back yesterday. The trails were alright considering the fact that there hasn't been a lot of fresh snow in that area in the last few days. There were a few rough patches once we got into Wexford county but it wasn't too bad other than that. Did anyone else get out this weekend?

I am not a snowmobiler, its way to cold out there for me. Have a good time when you go and be careful, there are some people out there who dont care how they act or the way it would affect other riders.

Yeah, I know. I ran in to a few people who descided not to use hand signals on the trail and one of them came close to causing an accident.

People who do things like that should not be allowed to be on the trails.

It's not as cold on them as you probably might think.
If you wear the right clothes, like a snowmobile suit and everything, and the right gloves and boot's etc. you dont get cold.
I havent had one for quite a few years, I kinda miss it sometimes.
I used to live kinda out in the country and could just go on it from home.
Cant do that anymore.
So for me it just isnt practical anymore.
Besides, we just dont seem to get the snow like we used to.
Some of my friends that have them go up to the U.P. alot with their's, but they always complain about how expensive it is to do that.

We've been from Bitely to Irons before, but not in a couple years. Love the Irons area. Fife Lake is pretty nice too.

I had a bad experience on one when I was a kid. My first ride was with a cousin who only knew how to go as fast as possible so where did he take me through an uncut cornfield no gloves no hat. So I had an aversion towards them for a long time. If I lived somewhere where I could get on one and use it on a daily basis in the winter you bet I would have one. Like my motorcycle its in the garage ready to ride if we get a little thaw and clear roads next month you know I will be out. I know snowmobiles are fun just never owned one.

My dad just got the Arctic Cat Z1 Turbo. Why he needs a sled with 1056 cc's under the hood is beyond me. The F6 that I have has 600 cc's and even though I'm a bigger guy, that's still almost too much.

I have a Yamaha 500 vmax and a Ski Doo 600 grand Touring. That's plenty for me.

Based on my calculations 1056cc equals about 177hp. Does that sound right?

Snowmobilers around here seem to think they have the right to go everywhere. I don't like it when they go up and down our driveway in the middle of the night. The noise and bright lights bother me. To keep them off, I guess I need to puchase and post a bunch of No Trespassing signs. The problem is that they can enter our property from 2 different roads or from several adjoining fields. How do I mark all of it?

Stretch a piece of razor thin wire across your driveway right about neck level.
That'll solve your problem.

I don't think they have a right to go up and down your driveway but snowmobiles do have a right to cross your driveway if they are within the road right of way and the county you are in allows snowmobile travel along county roads. By the way, I just got a report from up north and there seems to be a good bit of new snow in the Lake/Mason county area.

I went to Petoskey sledding on Friday and also went through Lake county. Very good conditions up there.

We went out of Jackson Hole one year and it was absolutely fabulous. Pricy though, we rented machines, suits etc.. Probably not as pricey as owning your own machine though.
Snow blows and so does Pete.
