Maybe you guys should concentrate on getting a leader who is alive, just an idea.

They have Palin, although she is brain dead so that probably doesn't count.

Didn't Reagan have government run health insurance?

This thread has my vote as most ridiculous started this week. The 2nd place and honorable mention goes to Progressives are starting to eat each other, started by Batch. And it doesn't get much more ridiculous than that.

Unlike "you guys", we have role models we can look up to and back to for the way things worked.

You should go sit at the little kid's table for political discussion.

Anyone with even a casual grasp of politics knows that Reagan fought against Medicare, calling it socialism. I wonder how well that would go over with the AARP members of today. More proof that when neo-cons idolize Reagan, they are worshipping their own anti-christ.

50 years ago is too long for a topic such as this. Some fundamental things apply across time, but this is pushing it.

Also, let us not forget. It was Reaganomics that began the current crisis. He really wasn't all that and a bag of chips.

Exactly. Our bench consists of the protester at the town halls to the founding fathers.

What are they relying on? No one they want to name out loud, that's for sure.

Role models that stand the test of time are never out of style. Role models today is what this country is currently lacking as there are none on the horizon and haven't been any for quite some time. I can't think of anybody in recent history that I would call a role model.

If you consider Ronald Reagan a role model your standards are pretty low.

Reagan is the founding father of neo-conservatism, the most failed polital ideology in American history. 20 of the last 28 years we had neo-con Presidents and look how bad it turned out for this country. W was a Reagan wannabe and look how bad that failed our country. Reagan led the war on unions and the middle class and was the founding President of out of control spending.
Reagan may have been popular at that time but now we are seeing the effects of that failed ideology.
Reaganomics and his other ideas certainly have not withstood the test of time.

Wow! There is a serious infestation of liberal doushbags rating each other up on issues they don't understand. That's completely common though.

So, who would you determine to be good role models now, Arctic? Pete perhaps? How about John Edwards? Besides which, you state this as fact, when it is truly just your opinion, to which you are entitled.

If your looking for failed political ideology, than let's look at 2 specific Democrats.
FDR began the welfare state and LBJ perpetuated it. This is an ideology that will ALWAYS BE A FAILURE because it breeds a sense of entitlement and it discourages motivation.
We've now had almost 70 years of this garbage and it needs to come to an end. Let's tighten it up, help the truly helpless and screw the clueless.

And here's the other Ronald Reagan:

Ya he saw the light. He saw the light of how to make HIMSELF richer when his father-in-law convinced he he could make a lot more money a lot faster with his (FIL) conservative connections.

Does this directly deal with National Health Care? No. EXCEPT Harry S. Truman was already President and was in the process of rebuilding Germany after WWII...in which he (Harry) instituted a national health care system for them (Germany) and wanted the same for the United States.
