Exactly right. If you have health insurance that meets the minimum standards, you can keep the one you have and the Drs you like.
Now that most employers have annual enrollment people are seeing that nothing is changing for us next year. The Republicans are standing on their last legs trying to take ACA down. Ain't gonna happen.

If that is true, then why change our system of healthcare?

Ummm, apparently your employer is just NOW having annual enrollment? Most employers that offer company sponsored health care have had annual enrollment for years. Typical progressive, blame only one side instead of looking at the entire picture. Are you Pipester's sister? Now THAT thought just ruined my breakfast.

A good article on this subject discusses the right wing's darling victim of Obamacare......

This part was quite interesting as it showed what insurance this poor woman was having to give up:

"The policy Barrette has today is called the Go Blue Plan 91. It is not what most people would consider real insurance. Its coverage of doctor visits and tests, such as MRI scans, consists of paying $50 and then letting Barrette pay the remaining balance. Drug coverage works more or less in the same way, only the plan pays $15 per prescription—which is enough to cover generics, but not many name-brands. And hospitalization? The plan pays nothing at all.

As Wemple put it, "it’s a pray-that-you-don’t-really-get -sick 'plan.'"

Barrette doesn't really disagree—but this plan, she says, was all she could afford. "Most everyone I talked to said they were paying thousands more to get hospital coverage," she told me, "so I took my chances with what I have now."

http://www.newrepublic.com/article/115457/oba...

How far has a country fallen when affordable health insurance doesn't cover going into a hospital? This woman was only one accident or illness from filing bankruptcy and passing along the losses she caused being passed onto everyone else. Her comment that she took her chances is disingenuous when you consider that she just planned to walk away from her medical bills.

Annual renewals, cancellations and premium increases occurred long before ACA came along. Thats a fact, not bullshit. Secondly the policies that are being cancelled by insurers are INDIVIDUAL (the kind you buy yourself - not the kind you get from an employer) along with some small group market plans which combined are a small fraction of all policy holders -- 5 percent or less in fact. These plans are called NON-GRANDFATHERED plans and, as such do not comport to ACA minimum requirements, and rightly should be cancelled because they are NOT worth the paper they are written on.
Non-grandfathered plans:
place lifetime limits on "essential health benefits".
can rescind a member's coverage for just about any reason
do not extend dependent coverage to age 26
exclude coverage to children < 19 with pre-existing conditions
don't cover or limit coverage for preventative services
limit or don't cover emergency services
don't allow members to choose their primary care physician for themselves or their dependents
don't allow or limit members access to obstetrical or gynecological services
Grandfathered plans are those that were created before or in existence on March 23, 2010 and have maintained basically the same coverages since their creation. These plans do count and can be offered. However, While no one is forcing insurers to cancel these types of plans, like non-grandfathered plans, insurers have been doing so for NO OTHER REASON than to improve their bottom line profit margins. They are ridding themselves of these types of policies and the inherent risks to their profit margins and falsely blaming it on ACA.
Here's what INDIVIDUAL grandfathered plans ( and ALL OTHER plans) under ACA have to do:
End lifetime limits on coverage
End arbitrary cancellations of health coverage
Cover adult children up to age 26
Provide a Summary of Benefits and Coverage, a short, easy-to-understand summary of what a plan covers and costs
Hold insurance companies accountable to spend your premiums on health care, not administrative costs and bonuses
If these plans don't offer the foregoing features, then they do not comport with ACA. Its that simple
While grandfathered INDIVIDUAL plans are required to offer the coverages listed above, they DON'T have to do the following:
Cover you if you have a pre-existing health condition
Offer preventive care for free
Guarantee your right to appeal
Protect your choice of doctors and access to emergency care
Be held accountable through Rate Review for excessive premium increases
Again you only prove how unwilling you are to back up your statements and/or are unwilling to accept the reality that apparently you can not fathom.
I'll repeat what you said "individual insurance plans typically had to be renewed annually, many were cancelled without warning"
I specifically asked you to provide numbers that represent "many". I gave you numbers that represent what the experts have projected.
The word "many" is not a number. Try again.
The rest of your babbeling post only represents one thing. I'll try to run this by you one more time. You know that guy Obama?? The one that is the president?? The one that said several times that "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan". I'm going to guess you're going to say he never said that??
No mention of grandfathering, no mention of cancellations, no mention of minimum requirements.
What part of the lie don't you understand? What part of the misrepresentation don't you get?
Change the subject all you want...man up and admit Obama lied to the American people multiple times. You look more and more foolish with every attempt to counter my points. You should probably move on to another subject as you aren't doing very well here.

Typical shortsighted liberal who thinks that because it doesn't affect them directly, then it doesn't affect anyone. How about you parrot your little spiel to one of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have received cancellation notices for their insurance? Better wear a hockey mask when you do, though...most of them are likely to punch you right in the kisser and that would be getting off easy.

Give him a break...the word "many" has no meaning to him. It can not be associated with a real world number, it only means "many".

Sigh...what's the matter with people these days??

Though in the beginning BHO never lied he told us exactly what he wanted to do, any person with just a little intelligence would have rejected him, but they stood in the bleachers behind him and applauded when they were told to cheered and smiled weirdly sometimes even quizzically like what did he say but cheered anyway, now he has been caught in the most blatant lie anyone one could tell and they will still cheer and applaud and be used by this thing because they are afraid of the consequences. I don't usually feel sorry for you fools but you were bought and sold just like a side of beef because that is all you really are to things like BHO. So I feel sorry for those who have supported it.

OK, I don't care about the political stature or standing of the news station source, I'm looking at the numbers...50% to 78% increase for a 27 year-old??
What part of "affordable" is missing here???

He can't provide a number. His number is a word resolved as "many".
Maybe it's the new Obama order for referring to millions of people.

Sad that millions of Americans will be referred to as "many".

I know I may not agree with you on everything, but at least I know that we can carry on a respectful dialog between us. Pipester and Bob still have to learn how to do that.

As much if not more than your teabagging hero Ted Cruz pays.

So besides having the chance to earn minimum wage, what other benefits does your boss provide?
