It isn't a secret or surprising that the GOP is home to some crazy christian nutjobs.
The disturbing part is that Broun is on the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

It is sad that anyone who denies science and reality can get elected into the U.S. government at all. It is even more sad that these crazies can infiltrate high ranking positions.

St Michael wrote:
<quoted text>
Today's subject is the debate over whether more people throughout history have been killed in the name of religion, or in the name of atheism. History is full of uncounted massacres by armies carrying a religious banner, though most such episodes were in ancient times with much less efficient killing technology and microscopically smaller populations. The number of religious exterminations of entire villages throughout history is innumerable, though most had body counts only in the hundreds or thousands.
So who has been the worst throughout history: atheist regimes or religious regimes? The truth is that people are people. No matter what segment of society you look at, you'll find good people and you'll find bad people. You'll even find, as has been said, that the line between good and evil cuts through every human heart. Certainly there are people in the news who kill in the name of religion, but just because they kill in the name of religion doesn't really mean they kill because of religion. The Islamic militants who cut off Joe Blow head are not nice men who would have otherwise been his best friend, if it weren't for their religious convictions forcing them into this grievous act. They are base murderers, and they should be punished accordingly, I don't care whether they go to church or not. Killers don't really kill because of their religion. Neither does a lack of religious convictions cause one to run wild in the streets with a bloody axe and a torch. Religion is a convenient banner for many to carry, but there are plenty of other banners available as well, and if it wasn't religion, they'd do their deeds under some other justification, if they care to even have one. The real reason they do their evil deeds is that they're human. Humans are very smart, very capable; and when we want something, we generally find some way to get it, even if that means killing someone or committing genocide.
So I am no longer going to participate in the childish debate of what religion has killed more people in history, because it doesn't matter. The way I see it, you might as well debate what color underpants are worn by the largest number of killers, and try to draw a causal relationship there as well. Religion does not cause you to kill people, and it certainly doesn't prevent you from killing people. Let's stop pretending that it does either.
There is nothing that can change the fact that christianity is the bloodiest, most savage religion in history.

Winner of the "Stupid post of the day."

Of course it can be proven that the KKK are exclusively christians.
Just go to their website, www kkk dot com. They do not allow non-christians in and make new members pledge loyalty to christianity.
A shame you could not take 3 seconds to fact-check something before you displayed your ignorance.(Of course, if christians had appreciation for facts and evidence, then they would not be christians.)

Already been proven.

No amount of whining or denying can change the fact that the KKK is a christian organization.

It's in their entire history and on their website.

Their site is www kkk dot com.(Topix won't allow posting of a hyperlink)

The symbol of the KKK is a burning cross, a sign of their christian fellowship.

We did not evolve and happen by chance, prove your theory I am sticking with a meaning more than just an organism.

Oh, I still don't see the half ape like creatures or any other almost humans that have evolved that way such as apes are STILL apes.

If it weren't for science I might also believe in evolution and global warming.Thank God he gave us enough logic and creativeness to see through the non facts.ie "science" that is based on facts not some goof Darwin or Al gore

Is there any possibility that scientist today could possibly be the slightest bit wrong as well? They are people, and we all have been wrong at one point.
dont buy into the atheists or the funamentalists argument that science and religion are mutually exclusive...

Both would be wrong. And do a disservice to both science and Christianity, frankly.

We know enough now that you will need more to prove things. We know about space, DNA, bacteria, Atomic theory that PROVES itself out.

but evolution or global warming are so asinine to even discuss because there are too many variables to predict a damn thing.

For global warming
For example, I have a lava lamp, and I want you to prove a certain blob will be at a certain time at a certain spot 40 years from now.
We know something will occupy that certain space at some time, but it isn't science to be guessing.since the earth may just become better or different, not gloom and doom so people can work off the fear of people that global warming is gloom and doom just for profit. money.

As for evolution, if you can come up with something STILL evolving into human ,let me know, otherwise God is a far more reasonable factor.

Like I always say, for you anti religion people, pray their ain't no God.

You tried to connect them To Republicans and Christians and you are wrong. Don't act like you didn't!

If any affiliation it would be Southern Babtist, but even that would be a stretch. There is nothing remotely Christian about the KKK.

Go ahead though, continue to sound foolish!
