I grew up in Constantine, and my family still lives there. This strikes very close to home for me. We are a very small town, and it does not surprize me that her mom found her. Around here, we are used to taking care of ourselves. If it was my child, you can bet your sweet ### I'd be out looking to, no one could keep me from it! We have also had issues in the past month or so with someone trying to abduct children from an adjacent town. Rumor has it, it's probably the same vehicle. There are more circumstances here. Please don't jump to conclusions about the parents, I'm sure they are suffering enough.

I am not blaming by hoping it is just a wierd turn of events that the mom would find this sweet girl in a place that was not typical for kids to hang out. I want to know how the mom knew to look there before the police?

I'm totally with you, but how do you suppose we do that? Our state (and many others) don't have a death penalty and if you read the headlines enough, you'll notice that many criminals (murderers, rapists and such) are getting out on "good behavior" just to go out and do it ALL OVER AGAIN. Like I said, I'm totally with you on this, but how is that gonna happen?
Yes, take a stereo out of a car, get 3 years in prison. Rape or molest a child and what does one get?? 3years. Is that messed up or what?

Since I know the layout of the town, it is easy for me to understand how her mom found her first. The cemetery is on what could be termed a main road (for small town USA!) Smack dab in the middle of our residental district. Chances are her mom was just out looking and ended up there. As for the FBI being called in so quickly, our police force numbers all of 3 (I believe). We have never had a homicide here in my memory. I'm not saying our police force isn't good, I believe they are. What I'm saying is they lack experience. I'm glad, and I bet Jodi's family is too, that the FBI is in on the case!

I was trying so hard not to reply, as a mother I have my opinions on the.
I think I am going to stay away from them until more "facts" come out, because it wont sound nice.

Praying for the family, and I pray to god this child did not suffer.
I hate this, another one of our children gone.
I have been against the death penality and thought people on here that said it was cruel, I am so leaning toward it now.

I hope this child gets her justice soon, and they find who did this so another child may not be in harms way!
so so so sad.

The cemetery could have been next to her house?, it could have a bike/walking path next to it (like the one on Prairie in Grandville does)? It could have been where the friends split up at last.........we don't know the area well enough to know the details. The girl could have told her mom she would be at her friends house until 7pm, mom would have no idea that she wasn't and would have no idea she should be worrying about her.......
We just don't know.
What we do know is we should keep this family in our prayers today, after the facts and more details come out and the mother is found guilty of something somehow, then we can bash her. I will be first in line for that. But until then, we need to think how we would feel if our child was suddenly taken from us.
Many of the parents who will post on this story have lost (meaning their children DIED through accidental injuries) and this story will mean a lot to them.
I agree with you on this. The media only gives us bits and pieces of the puzzle. Only the police know more that they don't give to the public. I lost my 11 year old cousin in 1997 and she was killed by a sex offender. She was not found for 5 years. The police told us more then the media had told the public and that was for the protection of the investigation and to put that man behind bars.

There is alot more about this story at Woodtv.com . Woodtv reports that the mother of the young girl came accross the childs body at a cemetery around 10:30pm
From Woodtv:
"Police in the St. Joseph County town say Jodi Christine Parrack left her friends on E. 3rd St. around 4:45 p.m. Thursday on her bicycle.
Her mother reported her missing to police between 7 and 8 p.m. that night. The search began for the girl.
Police say Jodi's mother came across her body in the Constantine Township Cemetery just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday".
Hmmm this does not add up to me.
When my 10 year old son came up missing a couple of years ago an Amber alert was issued and I was advised to say at home and wait for any phone calls or additonal information or in case my child returned to the home.I was told that going out scouring the nieghborhood could mess up any needed information.I did what I was told and my son was found safe at a friends home.Hmmmm how did she know to look for her child at the cemetery Hmmmm, and why did it take so long for her to report the child missing. It is dark at 7pm and 8pm makesthe child was missing for 2 hours or better. At dark HMMMM it makes me wonder.
The police have to rule out the family first, but that was NEVER meant to imply that I thought this mom might be involved. If my child was missing, I would be out there looking for her. I would have a neighbor stay at my house, and I would take my cell phone. They would have to tie me down to keep me from looking. This mom very likely knows where her daughters friends live, spots that the child liked to play, etc. If she found the child, I feel so bad for her. That is a vision that will never go away. No parent should ever see that. We don't know what all the circumstances are, as far as when Mom knew the child wasn't home, and reported her missing. If she had permission to be somewhere, Mom may not have known for several hours. This family is already answering questions by the police. If they had nothing to do with it, that is horrible enough, without the community questioning them as well. The police have to rule them out, or label them as suspects, we don't need to cause them more grief by theorizing about their actions especially when we don't have all the information.

I agree. I came to the forum here to try to find out a little more info. I did so because when I read that she left the friend's at 4:45 pm but the mom didn't report her missing til 7ish. I wondered if she was supposed to be home by say 5 pm and it took the mom 2 hours to call police. Or was her mom not aware that she left the friends to head for home? I have not read anything to answer these questions. I have a 10 year old daughter and she can't be on her bike in the dark nor can she be at a friends on her bike if it's too far and it's dark. She always needs to travel with someone. Otherwise I go get her. Children just can't be out alone after dark. It's a scary world we live in and I remind her all the time, just not too much. I feel so bad that innocent children suffer like this. I pray her family gets thru this.

Jodi was my niece and I am so sad right now. She is also survived by her real father ( my brother ), who is currently trying to get custody of Jodi's two brothers ( his sons ). Valerie is a piece of work. She deliberately keeps the kids from their father, which everybody knows that's just wrong. Anyways, If my daughter was supposed to be home by 5:30 and she wasn't, I would be on the phone at 5:31 wondering where the hell she is! Wouldn't you?

This is why we need to start KILLING KILLERS! Back in history murderers were hanged in public square to show society that the strength of justice.

I think we should have a television network solely committed to broadcasting executions. It would be a very highly rated show, tell the story of what the criminal did and to who. How he/she destroyed the life of the victim and the families and friends of same. The conclusion of each show would be the execution of the offender.

See how much the murder rate would drop if this were to happen. Society would realize that there are consequences for taking another's life.

I'd watch every show for sure, the advertising dollars could help fund the prosecution of other killers. It would become a self supporting system that would help rid our society of murderers.

Too bad the bleeding hearts care more about the murderers than the victims. Their 'rehabilitate' mentality is killing men women and children like this every day. To many of these criminals, life in prison is a step up from their twisted disgusting lives.
