The guy is a buffoon and a con artist who exploits people's Christianity for his own personal profit and self-aggrandizement. He is a false prophet.

Your ability to get worked up over this topic is humorous.

Can you please define the word "prophet" for me, as you understand it?

I took acception to his discounting the employment problems we are having in this state. I'd like to see this guy deal with starting from scratch today. What do you bet, he couldn't do it.
Most folks I know were doing fine until a couple years ago.
save your money by not going.

Most folks like us who are following Dave's plan are still doing fine today.

But hey, if you want to do things the hard way, knock yourself out!

In the Ramsey approach the loss of a job is covered only if you have reached that step in saving, and have a new job found in 3-6 months. Being clever won't pay your mortgage if you don't have income. Two different problems. You're right it is common sense to budget yourself but not everyone has the sense so they need someone to spell it out for them. If you went looking for a job then you wasted your time, and money, it was advice not jobs. Dave can't help you fix the global economy, and without a job (even a minimum wage one) the steps are useless.

Thumbs up to everyone who got the chance to see Ramsey. Now there's a role model. Sports player are not role models. Read his books and listen to his radio talk show and it can make a difference.

I know a Dave Ramsey instructor in the Grand Rapids area that saved his money by not paying his child support and kids' college expenses, then he bought a big house with a fancy pool. Hmmmm, at least he looked like he was successful.

We were barely treading water on a very good income until we found him just over 2 years ago. Following his advice has been a life saver for us. If I go off the budget or stop my envelopes, we revert right back to old habits within weeks. People I know complain about not having enough to save for their kids college funds but they have 60k in car loans, iPhones, gym memberships, go out to eat 2-3 times a week etc. But that is their lifestyle and they would never think to cut back on that...messed up priorities for sure.

I went to his show last night, and it was awesome. His plan does work if you choose to follow it. If you don't, that's fine too; you don't have to judge others either way.

He makes money and has all these followers, when all his plan consists of is just plain old common sense. Are we all that stupid that we need to be told to not spend more than you make?

I agaree with TRGOL. COMMOM SENSE is the key to being debt free. Sure I would love a new car, gym memmbership, and to go out to eat 3 times a week, but I choose to be frugal. We were able to pay our house off in 10 years, due to my very own Dave Ramsey, my husband.

Did you know that you don't have to pay to attend his seminars? Many church's are offering his teachings as well.

I have attended the classes through my church. I may have stumbled, but I also learned a lot. This is not about exploiting Chrisianity, it is about learning to live with in your means and making your money happen.

The one thing I liked about his teachings is that he didn't tell you you couldn't go out to eat or go on a vacation, you can still do all this, just plan it. Make your money happen rather than let it happen to you. Just budget for what you need and want.
