I think if it's your everyday "normal", psychologically healthy poppa then ok. But if there's more to the story than pops told that makes mom concerned, he should be seeking more help than writing to Abby!

I grew up in a family of 6 and 1 bathroom. 3 females -3 males and there was no way you couldn't conflict at times all needing the bathroom. But we always put the towel around us before we got out and scurried off to our respective rooms and we had the extra large towels to boot!:) I think it's a personal thing but if mom is uncomfortable with it - dad should respect her wishes -period.
I agree. I have three daughters and one and half baths. When they were at home, we had no choice but to share. The rules were simple...Knock first, wait for a reply, and have plenty of big towels around. They are perfectly well adjusted and have families of their own now.

So, the dude takes a dump, while his daughter is in the shower right next to him?
That's just not right!
And, I'm not even talking about the being nude with the daughter thing and all that!
But, when I take a dump, I dont want anyone else around!
And that's basically for safty reasons!
You just never know what might happen!
I wouldnt put any family member through that!

I grew up in a large family with one bathroom. You really had no choice but to use the bathroom with opposite-sex siblings and parents in the bathroom. We were respectful, but did see each other undressed at times. Nothing sexual ever happened. We were just a big family living in a small house. I would like to have had my own bathroom then, and I do now. We are much better off than some of my friends, who lived in big houses and their parents got divorced, or there was drug use (and a death by overdose, and one friend's sister ran away). None of that in my family.

it's good that nothing sexual ever happened. but having said that, why no big towels, or knocking the door, or even just keeping your eyes closed?

it's not right for family members to see each other undressed.

I'm going to have to agree with Abby. At 12 his daughter is either at or close to reaching puberty and that's not appropriate in my opinion. Get up 5 minutes earlier to shave and feed the dog.
I have to agree with you on this Hurley.... growing up, if someone came in the bathroom while it was already occupied, they better be dead, dying or bleeding! There is no reason with two bathrooms in the house for this to be going on. This is not being done of necessity. If Dad wants to share bathroom time, maybe he should get up a little earlier and share it with MOM!

Dude sounds like a closet-pedophile. Word of advice for him: If your wife has a problem with it you'd better listen. In this case if he kicks up too much of a fuss over wanting to have shower-time with his daughter the divorce settlement will go like this: She gets everything including the dog. :)
