We are going to be tinkering around at home. No traveling for us. What are all of you planning on doing?

My husband is going on a fishing trip so I'm going to be home alone for yet another Memorial Day weekend :(

I think I'm going to work in the cemetery most of the time.

Oh no, you need to find something fun for YOU to do. Guess we'll be hearing from ya :)

I'll probably be the only one on here. I usually catch the parade in Middleville here, but other than that there's not much open for me to go to.

Thankfully the DNR helped me with my plans for the weekend.

On November 21st, I made reservations for campsite #178 at Mitchell State Park in Cadillac. Ten full days being parked right on the channel.... Mornings spent fishing, and afternoons sitting by the cmapfire with a ice cold beer in hand.

That all changed on January 19th when the DNR called to explain how they were going to rebuild the channel wall, and that my reservation was cancelled. But not to worry, they would move me to any other campsite.

So I asked what other sites were open.... None!

But don't worry, we'll move you to any other state park, with two days free of charge.....

Ludington... Full
Chas. Mears.... Full
Orchard Beach.... Full
Otsego Lake.... Full
No. Higgins, So. Higgins, Hartwick Pines.... It didn't matter by then. Unless of course I wanted to head to Baraga County that is.

So this year, The Bean's will spend the first five days of their vacation sitting at home. I'll fish a few local lakes, and at least the beer will still be cold.

I'll be busy keeping track of my horses. I have one entered for today and 2 more entered for Friday at Hollywood Park, 2 more on Saturday at Belmont Park in NY, and another on Monday at Belmont. I'm trying to get another in for Sunday at Hollywood Park.

So it will be ice cold refreshments, cookin' on the grill, and satellite TV!

Going nowhere, gas is to expensive, job is shaky and to many things to do around the house that don't cost much. Will break out the grill and smoke out the neighborhood with some hamburgers each day.

Heading up to the Lake House in Bellaire. I plan to be sitting in a chair on the beach with a beer in my hand by 3pm Friday.

I get to work! However, I also get to go North by the Big lake to do my job! Love it!!! One of the perks. I get to be waited on...no cooking for one for the next 10 days! I get to do this every year over Memorial Day weekend. It used to be 3 times a year but with the economy it's only been once a year for the last 3. I'm taking my fishing pole just in case I get some extra time!

Going to Property up in Bitely, sit around the campire, slow cook ribs over the open fire, plant flowers, walk the dog, and just relax.

The state park in Ludington is full but Carter's still has sites, you just have to drive a ways to launch the fishing boat.

Yeah, there were a few places I could have probably squeezed into. I'm just on a mini-rant about how the DNR handled it. They had to know they were closing those campsites prior to November, but they just goofed. The salt in the wound was the bimbo who called that had no clue that it was a holiday weekend.

I guess as long as I find a few fish to stretch the string I'll be happy. If not, cold Budweiser cures all!

Be sure that no matter what you do this weekend, you pause to remember the soldiers who kept us free to do what we like to do. God Bless them all!
