Let this be a warning people!!! Don't buy or sell anything at anytime, anywhere - ever! It's just too dangerous these days.

People are SO stupid. If you're selling something on craigslist, it's very unlikely that someone from outside the area you are selling it are going to buy it.

(Unless it's a rare item. I search the country looking for parts for my 40 year old car.)

Apparently some people don't watch court TV because they would know how terrible Craigslist has become. People are always suing someone for something they did or didn't get off Craigslist! Cash or moneygram only? Not sure as I've never seen it. And don't intend to.

Personaly, I have had great experiences with Craiglist. Never had a problem. The nature of it is buyer beware, and cash only.

Here's a thought - turn off the computers and go out and buy a newspaper for your classifieds.

This isn't news....this happens all the time.

I placed an ad on craigslist to sell a car, I had several people send me bad checks.

Absolutely right. I only buy online from Ebay sellers, Etsy, or stores that accept Paypal. I've never had a problem with them.

You know we had that issue also, the scammer said he was going to buy our trailer and he sent a check from out of state and we think that he's from Jackson Michigan. We tried calling the detective in Grand Rapids, but they dont call us back. So yes watch out this guy is scamming alot of people. Our trailer was only 450 and he send a check of 2600 houndered. He wanted us to cash it, take our money and to send the rest to WEstern Union, but the funny thing was that he never said when he was going to pick up the trailer.

I sold a sofa and tables on Craig's List. The people drove 150 miles to look at it. They did buy them, but is was kind of weird. I don't think I'd do it again.

I was contacted several times by someone from out of state that offered more than what I was asking for an entertainment center, if I'd accept a "bank check". As the previous posters have said, only accept cash and local buyers!

Many checks are printed in Florida and come up missing. It used to be pretty regular that check based scames came from their.

Why even post this story...it's not news and it's so poorly written that a 3rd grader would be left asking for details.

Paypal is helpful when selling things online. If you don't trust Craigslist, Ebay is a proven good site that tries to stop scammers as best they can.
