I've called three times now, and it's never taken me longer than 15 minutes. I guess I must just be good at dialing.
You also seem to have a knack for showing humility.

This is un-acceptable telling people who are trying to call Marvin to get their check, to call back Thursday or Friday?!!??? Which now delays your payment by 2 days, because Marvin was busy???????
Hire some additional workers, you knew this was coming with all the job loss in Michigan!

To new to this, your funds should be on that Chase Bank card, which you can use just like a debit card!

I have tried at all different times of the day to get to a human to ask a question on my claim. I would say I have tried at least 50 times with no success. I then noticed a story on line that indicated you could set up an account on line.I registered on Jan 9 and received a letter with my password on Jan 13. It can answer many of your questions and best of all,you can use it to claim your weeks of unemployment instead of calling Marvin and finding out that all the lines are busy. I want to thank Wood Tv for posting the story. It is good to know that someone really cares about all the frustration and is doing something to help.

Thanks Bob, I never saw the Marvin Online until you mentioned it! I will be using this from now on as I only seem to get through to Marvin after a frustrating hour of busy signals. Also, never call the 1-800-500-0017 number as it has given me busy signals for 2 full days of trying. click redial busy, click redial busy, repeat until 4:30 when you get, sorry our office is now closed! bummer!

My boyfriend and his co workers have not been able to through at their assigned times there are so many unemloyed peolpe Marvin can't handle it apparently maybe they should add lines to that service because there is no end in sight to the unemployment numbers. More jobs are being lost everyday and new jobs willnot be here soon enough. Many of us are living below poverty level in Michigan.

We are calling MARVIN for the 1st time today. Does anyone know: Can I use my cell phone to call or does it have to be a land line phone? I've heard conflicting stories like you have to use a home phone (land line) because of the touch-tone, others have said that they remember using their cell phones. Just want to be sure before I drive somewhere to use a land line phone...Thanks for your help.

My son lost his job in July due to a merger. He immediately applied for unemployment and has yet to receive his first check. This is crazy. Everytime he calls it is busy. He has only a cell phone with limited minutes, so it is costing him big time. Because he cannot even get through, he cannot find out what else he needs to do.
His medication costs over $300 per month for one prescription. He has accepted a much lower paying job, but it does not help with the prescription coverage.
I think maybe the State should have to pay people interest when their checks are this late...like a credit card. Obviously lots of people are living on credit cards to make ends meet--maybe if the State had to pay out interest too they would speed up the process and make it more user friendly.
The entire system is a total disaster!

Bob in Grand Rapids: I would like to know where the information to file bi-weekly claims online is. It seems easier than trying to get through to Marvin at your scheduled call-in time. Also how well did it work and did you recieve your money on time? Thanks!

I've spent over 6 hours trying to call MARVIN this week and still have not gotten through? This is really a sad thing that is happening. It is humbling enough to make that call once a week, but to have to call for hours on end, it has now become humiliating. There are too many people that want to work out here and at the end of the day there are not enough jobs! The question that is now in our household-"is it time to move out of this state?"
